Entrepreneurial Marketing - Aktueller Stand der Forschung und innovative Ansätze (2019)
Brandner, Annika
A growing flood of advertising and information as well a limited capacity to collect information present a challenge to marketing today. Marketing in general is very important for the success of a company. But the classic marketing theory which ignores the special characteristics of young companies dominates. A new company with a new idea and a new product meets an existing market with customers and established competitors. For an innovation-related founding context this is a special challenge. In this bachelor thesis the subjects, entrepreneurship and marketing will be discussed first. In addition the special characteristics of young companies, the so-called liabilities will be explained. The meaning of the term entrepreneurial marketing is explained by detailed consideration of the close and wide conceptual understanding. Afterwards the comparison clarifies the difference to the classic marketing. As part of the literature review, the current state of research will be presented and the practical use will be examined in more detail based on the central approaches. The approaches are the guerrilla marketing, ambient marketing, sensation marketing, viral marketing and ambush marketing. How entrepreneurial marketing with the central approaches is used in a start-up company is analyzed by a qualitative investigation in the form of a case study. The case study shows that unconventional marketing measures and low use of medium can have a large effect. The entrepreneurial marketing therefore offers an alternative to classic marketing because it pays attention to the special characteristics of a young start-up company. This bachelor thesis shows that the entrepreneurial marketing can convert the weaknesses of young founding companies into strengths and lead to superiority over the competition.
Entwicklung eines Jump'n'Run Spiels und Bewertung des Einflusses von Erfolgssystemen (2019)
Weiler, Anthea
This bachelor thesis deals with the conception, implementation and evaluation of a Jump'n'Run game and the consideration of the influence of achievment systems on players. In the game Age of Tunes you play Bardur, the beardless bard and have to try to free the cursed magical creatures in the world Harmonica. The emphasis of the thesis was the clean conception and gradual development of the game, appealing graphic quality, integration of opponents, a mini-game and the consideration of effects of an achievment system on players. In a final evaluation the game and the behavior could be evaluated regarding the achievments.
Entwicklung einer interaktiven Spiele-Applikation unter Android (2019)
Döres, René
The goal of this work is the induction, conception, implementation and evaluation of an interactive game application among Android. The game genre of the app is a 2D-Jump ‘n’ Run Side-Scroller, whose graphical implementation is based on the four elements earth, fire, water and wind. The application should have classic functions of a Jump ‘n’ Run game and allow the player to overcome the four game worlds to find the finish. The implementation is based on Unity Engine and Adobe Photoshop. A user test asks basic questions about the application and specific questions about the research question, which are then evaluated. The research question examines the connection between fun factor and color perception while playing the app. Represented by the natural color combinations of the four elements. At the end possibilities for expansion and future prospects will be discussed.
Prozedurale Generierung von 3D-Stadtmodellen (2019)
Hermann, Simeon
The following bachelor thesis gives an overview of various approaches and techniques for procedural generation of three-dimensional city models. Especially the usage of generative grammars is being examined and later used for the implementation of an own application. Its focus was the embedding of predetermined primary street networks as well as the procedural generation of secondary street networks and different kinds of buildings. The application allows the efficient creation of extensive and variably structured city models. However, there are restrictions regarding the realism and variation of the results.
A Comparison of IoT Architecture Models (2019)
Winzen, Michael
The Internet of Things is still one of the most relevant topics in the field of economics and research powered by the increasing demand of innovative services. Cost reductions in manufacturing of IoT hardware and the development of completely new communication ways has led to the point of bil-lions of devices connected to the internet. But in order to rule this new IoT landscape a standardized solution to conquer these challenges must be developed, the IoT Architecture. This thesis examines the structure, purpose and requirements of IoT Architecture Models in the global IoT landscape and proposes an overview across the selected ones. For that purpose, a struc-tured literature analysis on this topic is conducted within this thesis, including an analysis on three existing research approaches trying to frame this topic and a tool supported evaluation of IoT Archi-tecture literature with over 200 accessed documents. Furthermore, a coding of literature with the help of the specialised coding tool ATLAS.ti 8 is conduct-ed on 30 different IoT Architecture Models. In a final step these Architecture Models are categorized and compared to each other showing that the environment of IoT and its Architectures gets even more complex the further the research goes.
Echtzeitrendering von volumetrischen Wolken (2019)
Fedorenko, Jakob
Development of an augmented reality pARcours (2019)
Peuker, Lea
This Bachelor thesis describes the conception, implementation and evaluation of a playful augmented reality application for mobile devices. Building on the ARCore SDK, the game pARcours was developed, where the player can place virtual objects in the real environment to build their own parcours. This must be flown through with a likewise virtual aircraft. The main focus in the implementation of the game was on the interaction with the virtual objects and the collision detection of these with real surfaces. Furthermore, various input methods for building the parcours and controlling the aircrafts were examined. In a final evaluation both the game and the various input methods could be evaluated, as well as ARCore with regard to the development of augmented reality applications.
Entwicklung eines interaktiven Action-Rollenspiels mit Unity (2019)
Karolek, Vanessa
This thesis deals with the conception and implementation of an action role-playing game using the game engine Unity. Within the context of an evaluation, the game was supposed to be evaluated with regard to the usability of the integrated control modes, the visual conviction of the animations and the user-friendliness of the tools and visualizations provided. In addition, weaknesses and problems in the game were to be identified through open feedback. The results of the evaluation showed that the game is still expandable in terms of usability and user-friendliness, but has left a good impression on the test persons.
Simulation von Rauch (2019)
Gaida, Sebastian
This bachelor thesis deals with the simulation of smoke in a particle system. Here the possibilities are investigated to implement smoke as realistically as possible in a particle system and to calculate it in real time. The physical simulation is based on the work of Müller and Ren, who deal with the physical properties of fluids and gases. The simulation was implemented on the GPU using C++, OpenGL and the compute shaders available in OpenGL. Special attention was paid to the performance of the simulation. Hoetzlein techniques are used to accelerate the particle system. Two acceleration methods were then implemented and compared. The runtime, but also the used memory space of the GPU is discussed.
Online-Panoramaerstellung für VR (2019)
Krämer, Katharina
In this thesis, the theory of video seethrough is fundamentally presented on the basis of a panoramic view from several camera frames of different perspectives. Based on this, a system was designed and implemented in which video streams are put together into a panoramic image by perspective distortion. This is then projected onto the inside of a cylinder with the virtual position of the viewer in the middle. Finally, the resulting video panoramas will be displayed in VR glasses. Within the implementation some optimizations are also presented, among others those that make the system real-time capable beyond the task. Furthermore, the developed system will be evaluated and compared with two other methods.
Entwicklung einer immersiven VR-Erfahrung (2019)
Hübel, Maximilian
This thesis is about the design and the implementation of a virtual reality experience. The goal is to answer two questions: Is it possible to create an immersive virtual reality experience which is mainly using impulses and triggers to scare and frighten users? Secondly, is this immersion strong enough to create an illusion in which the user can't separate the real world from the virtual world? To realise this project the design program Unity3D as well as Visual Studios 2017 were used. Furthermore, in order to verify that the experience is indeed immersive for the user, an experiment with a sample size of seven people was created. Afterwards the candidates were interviewed via a questionnaire how they felt during the virtual reality application. As a result the study showed that the application has tendencies to be immersive but the users were still aware of the situation. It can be concluded that the immersion was not strong enough to fool users regarding the separation of virtual and real world.
Untersuchung von Verfahren für dynamische Global Illumination in Echtzeit (2019)
Gauggel, Alexander
Global-Illumination is an important part of the rendering of realistic images. However, the computational complexity of an accurate simulation of these effects is too high for the use in real time applications. In this paper Light-Propagation-Volumes, Screen-Space-Reflections and multiple variants of Screen-Space-Ambient-Occlusion are investigated as a solution for real time rendering. It is shown that they are fast enough for the use in real time applications. The various techniques approximate only a few aspects of the light transport, but complement each other.
Internet of Things -Foodstuff Traceability and Transportation with Consideration of Logistic Processes in Cold Chain Management- (2019)
Schulz, Maurice
Abstract This bachelor thesis delivers a comprehensive overview of the topic Internet of Things (IoT). With the help of a first literature review, important characteristics, architectures, and properties have been identified. The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine whether the use of IoT in the transport of food, considering the compliance with the cold chain, can provide advantages for companies to reduce food waste. For this purpose, a second literature review has been carried out with food transport systems without the use, as well as with the use of IoT. Based on the literature review, it is possible at the end to determine a theoretical ‘ideal’ system for food transport in refrigerated trucks. The respective used technologies are also mentioned. The findings of several authors have shown that often significant improvements can be achieved in surveillance, transport in general, or traceability of food, and ultimately food waste can be reduced. However, benefits can also be gained using new non-IoT-based technologies. Thus, the main knowledge of this bachelor thesis is that a theoretical ‘ideal’ transport system contains a sensible combination of technologies with and without IoT. This system includes the use of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) for real-time food monitoring, as well as an alarm function when the temperature exceeds a maximum. Real-time monitoring with GPS coupled with a monitoring center to prevent traffic jams is another task. Smart and energy-efficient packaging, and finally the use of the new supercooling-technology, make the system significantly more efficient in reducing food waste. These highlights, that when choosing a transport system, which is as efficient and profitable as possible for food with refrigerated transport, companies need not just rely on the use of IoT. On this basis, it is advisable to combine the systems and technologies used so far with IoT in order to avoid as much food waste as possible.
Development of an Entity Component System Architecture for Realtime Simulation (2019)
Hollmann, Trevor
The development of a game engine is considered a non-trivial problem. [3] The architecture of such simulation software must be able to manage large amounts of simulation objects in real-time while dealing with “crosscutting concerns” [3,p. 36] between subsystems. The use of object oriented paradigms to model simulation objects in class hierarchies has been reported as incompatible with constantly changing demands during game development [2, p. 9], resulting in anti-patterns and eventual, messy refactoring.[13] Alternative architectures using data oriented paradigms revolving around object composition and aggregation have been proposed as a result. [13, 9, 1, 11] This thesis describes the development of such an architecture with the explicit goals to be simple, inherently compatible with data oriented design, and to make reasoning about performance characteristics possible. Concepts are formally defined to help analyze the problem and evaluate results. A functional implementation of the architecture is presented together with use cases common to simulation software.
Itani, Hussam
This bachelor thesis investigates the utilization of the Wii Balance Board in virtual reality applications. For the investigation a snowboard game is implemented, in which the virtual avatar can be controlled with the pressure sensors of the Wii Balance Board. The user should be able to move playfully and intuitively through the virtual environment by balancing his body. The immersiveness and the influence on motion sickness and cybersickness will be investigated. In Addition, the Wii Balance Board will be compared with the Xbox Controller. The aim of the work is to evaluate whether the Wii Balance Board is able to allow free movement in virtual environments and whether it is more advantageous to use it rather than a conventional controller. The results of the survey indicate that the Wii Balance Board has a positive influence on the immersivness of the game, despite better game results by using a conventional controller. The survey also reveals that the use of the Wii Balance Board is responsible for more motion-sickness/cybersickness cases.
Deformable Snow Rendering (2019)
Wasmut, Artur
Accurate snow simulation is key to capture snow's iconic visuals. Intricate methods exist that attempt to grasp snow behaviour in a holistic manner. Computational complexity prevents them from reaching real-time performance. This thesis presents three techniques making use of the GPU that focus on the deformation of a snow surface in real-time. The approaches are examined by their ability to scale with an increasing number of deformation actors and their visual portrayal of snow deformation. The findings indicate that the approaches maintain real-time performance well into several hundred individual deformation actors. However, these approaches each have their individual restrictions handicapping the visual results. An experimental approach is to combine the techniques at reduced deformation actor count to benefit from the detailed, merged deformation pattern.
Konzeption, Implementierung und Test eines Business Process Modeling Recommender Systems auf Basis von Long Short-Term Memory Neural Networks (2019)
Ritschl, Alexander
The main goal of this paper is to ascertain, if neural networks (especially LSTM) are helpful in predicting processes by making predictions as accurately as possible. TensorFlow is the used framework in Python to build recurrent neural networks. Two networks are built, whereby one is used for training and the other one for prediction. Used datasets contain several processes with several events each. With those processes, the network ist trained and afterwards, the parameters are saved. The network for prediction uses these parameters to make predictions. The neural network is able to make clear predictions about subsequent events. Even branches can be predicted. When developed further, integration in other programs is possible. It is recommended to use unique names for the events or to rename them.

Qori, Edona
Increasing innovation is the main reason of a changing daily work. The interaction of progressing digital technologies and our working society has originated the term “New Work”. “New Work” implies, that like spare time work time becomes part of the world of live. In this context, the self-responsibility, self-determination and self-realization of an individual in the professional as well as in the private environment is important. The subject of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the meaning of “New Work”. Also the components and the background is considered in detail by the literature analysis in order to answer the first research question "What is the meaning of the term “New Work" in research and practice?". For this purpose, the central contents of digitalization and technology, structure of work as well as work attitude of “New Work” are taken up and explicitly examined. What perception and what benefits employees and entrepreneurs have in relation to these contents is analyzed in the present bachelor thesis on the basis of a qualitative study. The collected results from the expert interviews also provide a comparison between entrepreneurs and employees understanding, attitude and feelings towards “New Work”. The interviews show, that “New Work” has a positive influence on the personal and the professional development of individuals. In addition, “New Work” has created new perspectives and requirements for workers and employers. “New Work” is focusing on goal-oriented working attitude and displaces time-oriented work. Through the realization and implementation of these new perspectives and requirements, it results in a fulfilling feeling in the working and living world. Caused by the abolishment of boundaries, “New Work” can be realized. Due to a satisfying profession, the sense and purpose of the work is no longer questioned. The “New Work” development leads to a cultural revolution based and digital changes.
Template Tracking auf Basis eines Partikelfilters (2019)
Hahn, Dennis
This bachelor thesis implements a system for camera tracking based on a particle filter. For this purpose, a marker tracking is realized and the camera position is calculated based on the marker position. The marker is to be found with a particle filter and in order to accomplish this possible marker positions are simulated, also called particles, and weighted with Likelyhood-Functions. The focus lies on the evaluation of different Likelihood-Functions of the particle filter. The Likelyhood functions were implemented in CUDA as part of the implementation.
Bergen, Ruwen Davis
The goal of this bachelor thesis was to add an image processing step to the music recognition software AudiVeris, in order to extract data even from faulty music sheet images. The procedure starts with a binarization using a regional version of Otsu's method. Following this the music sheet is searched for possible bendings, similar to those a hardcover book would cause. To achieve this the Hough transform is used for line detection and the k-means algorithm for cluster detection. Thereafter the music image is straightened using the discovered curvature.
Implementation eines Modells zur Simulation von Muskeln (2019)
Remagen, Daniel
In order to simulate realistic motion sequences, muscles must be able to be modelled anatomically correct. Yet it is only possible in SimPack to define muscles as a straight line between two points. This thesis presents an approach where ellipses can be defined through which a muscle must pass. The main problem is to calculate the length of this muscle through the ellipses. An algorithm is presented that calculates the shortest path of a muscle path through this ellipses. This algorithm is then implemented in Fortran 90 and integrated into an existing muscle model in SimPack.
Conceptual development of a collaboration platform to improve communication between scientific institutions in the railway sector (2019)
Rauert, Sören
In this thesis criteria and requirements for a successful collaboration platform for the improvement of communication between scientific institutes of the railway industry distributed worldwide are developed and evaluated. First, an introduction to collaboration platforms and their current market situation and trends will be given. The result-ing knowledge will be used for a qualitative content analysis in the form of interviews with the target group of the planned collaboration platform. Based on the basic knowledge and the interviews carried out, hypotheses for communication in scientific institutes will then be formed. These hypotheses serve to create a questionnaire for a quantitative survey of the target group. The following analysis of general collaboration platforms and those of the railway industry provides further insights and describes requirements for a successful conception of a collaboration platform. A subsequently planned conception of this platform cannot be carried out within the scope of this research work due to a lack of meaningful results and information. The planned quantitative content analysis was too complex for the chosen research context. In this research work, the quantitative questioning will be prepared for the following research work in this topic area. Further work results will be evaluated and made available for the following research work.
Simulation von Farbspritzern in VR (2019)
Kutscher, Steffen
In no field of computer science has the hardware developed as rapidly as in the field of computer graphics. Today, we can display complex, geometric scenes in real time in immersive systems and also integrate elaborate simulations. The aim of this work is to realize the simulation of paint splashes in a virtual world. For this purpose, an application will be implemented with the help of Unity, that uses three different techniques to color the environment with the help of paint splashes. Based on this application, the limits and possibilities of the techniques in virtual environments are examined more closely. This examination shows that an inverse projection produces the best results.
Immersion in virtuellen Welten (2019)
Bailer, Jeldrik
Hoerttrich, Lars
Using physics simulations natural phenomena can be replicated with the computer. The aim is to calculate a physical feature as correclty as possible in order to draw conclusions for the real world. Fields of Application are, for example, medicine, industry, but also games or films. Snow is a very complex natural phenomenon due to its physical structure and properties. To simulate snow, different material properties have to be considered. The most important method that deals with the simulation of snow and its dynamics is the material point method. It combines the Lagrangian particles based on continuum mechanics with a Cartesian grid. The grid enables communication between the snow particles, which are not actually connected. For calculation of particles data is transferred from these particles to the grid nodes. There, calculations are carried out with information about neighboring particles. The results are then transferred back to the original particles. Using GPGPU techniques, physical simulations can be implemented on the graphics card. Procedures like the material point method can be parallelized well with these techniques. This paper deals with the physical basics of the material point method and implements them on the graphics card using compute shaders. Then performance and quality are evaluated.
Entwicklung eines Prototyps zur Visualisierung eines unternehmensspezifischen SoNBO (Knowledge Graphen) am Beispiel von CRM-Informationen (2019)
Meier, Simon
Social Network of Business Objects (SoNBO) is a concept for aggregating information distributed in he-terogeneous system landscapes and making it available via a single user interface. The central idea is to understand company information as a network (graph). There is already a SoNBO-Explorer which integrates the information of a customer relationship management system (CRM system). The challenge in configuring such an application is to identify the corporate network and thus find out how the stored data is linked within the company. A tool that can visualize the corporate network is helpful for this. In this thesis a selfdeveloped tool (SoNBO-Graph-App) is presented as a prototype, which realizes this visualization. With this application the configuration of the network in the SoNBO Explorer consisting of the merged data can be supported by carrying out that configuration on a graphical level. The prototype is connected to two different databases of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and allows the aggregation of these data so that it is displayed as a graph in an overview. This gives the user a better insight and understanding of the relationship between the different data. This work is part of the longterm research project SoNBO, whose goal is a concept for the integration of information from different business application systems.
Design und Implementierung eines Business Process Modeling Recommender Systems auf Basis probabilistischer Endlicher Automaten (2019)
Schneichel, Tim
The goal of this thesis is to create a recommender system (RS) for business processes, based on the existing ProM plugin RegPFA. To accomplish this task, firstly an interface must be created that sets up and expands a database receiving probabilistic finite automata (PFA) created by RegPFA in tsml format as input. Secondly, a Java program must be designed that uses said database to recommend the process elements that are most likely to follow a given sequence of process elements.
Visualizing anatomical labels on brain images: developing a multi functional display method (2019)
Meyer, Marius
This work describes a novel software tool for visualizing anatomical segmentations of medical images. It was developed as part of a bachelor's thesis project, with a view to supporting research into automatic anatomical brain image segmentation. The tool builds on a widely-used visualization approach for 3D image volumes, where sections in orthogonal directions are rendered on screen as 2D images. It implements novel display modes that solve common problems with conventional viewer programs. In particular, it features a double-contour display mode to aid the user's spatial orientation in the image, as well as modes for comparing two competing segmentation labels pertaining to one and the same anatomical region. The tool was developed as an extension to an existing open-source software suite for medical image processing. The visualization modes are, however, suitable for implementation in the context of other viewer programs that follow a similar rendering approach. The modified code can be found here: soundray.org/mm-segmentation-visualization.tar.gz.

On correlations between vulnerabilities, quality-, and design-metrics (2019)
Ivanova, Antoniya
Over the past few decades society’s dependence on software systems has grown significantly. These systems are utilized in nearly every matter of life today and often handle sensitive, private data. This situation has turned software security analysis into an essential and widely researched topic in the field of computer science. Researchers in this field tend to make the assumption that the quality of the software systems' code directly affects the possibility for security gaps to arise in it. Because this assumption is based on properties of the code, proving it true would mean that security assessments can be performed on software, even before a certain version of it is released. A study based on this implication has already attempted to mathematically assess the existence of such a correlation, studying it based on quality and security metric calculations. The present study builds upon that study in finding an automatic method for choosing well-fitted software projects as a sample for this correlation analysis and extends the variety of projects considered for the it. In this thesis, the automatic generation of graphical representations both for the correlations between the metrics as well as for their evolution is also introduced. With these improvements, this thesis verifies the results of the previous study with a different and broader project input. It also focuses on analyzing the correlations between the quality and security metrics to real-world vulnerability data metrics. The data is extracted and evaluated from dedicated software vulnerability information sources and serves to represent the existence of proven security weaknesses in the studied software. The study discusses some of the difficulties that arise when trying to gather such information and link it to the difference in the information contained in the repositories of the studied projects. This thesis confirms the significant influence that quality metrics have on each other. It also shows that it is important to view them together as a whole and suppose that their correlation could influence the appearance of unwanted vulnerabilities as well. One of the important conclusions I can draw from this thesis is that the visualization of metric evolution graphs, helps the understanding of the values as well as their connection to each other in a more meaningful way. It allows for better grasp of their influence on each other as opposed to only studying their correlation values. This study confirms that studying metric correlations and evolution trends can help developers improve their projects and prevent them from becoming difficult to extend and maintain, increasing the potential for good quality as well as more secure software code.
2D-View of the Mitral Valve Through Global Parameterization (2019)
Eulzer, Pepe
The mitral valve is one of four human heart valves. It is located in the left heart and acts as a unidirectional passageway for blood between the left atrium and the left ventricle. A correctly functioning mitral valve prevents a backflow of blood into the pulmonary circulation (lungs) and thus constitutes a vital part of the cardiac cycle. Pathologies of the mitral valve can manifest in a variety of symptoms with severity ranging from chest pain and fatigue to pulmonary edema (fluid accumulation in the tissue and air space of lungs), which may ultimately cause respiratory failure. Malfunctioning mitral valves can be restored through complex surgical interventions, which greatly benefit from intensive planning and pre-operative analysis. Visualization techniques provide a possibility to enhance such preparation processes and can also facilitate post-operative evaluation. The work at hand extends current research in this field, building upon patient-specific mitral valve segmentations developed at the German Cancer Research Center, which result in triangulated 3D models of the valve surface. The core of this work will be the construction of a 2D-view of these models through global parameterization, a method that can be used to establish a bijective mapping between a planar parameter domain and a surface embedded in higher dimensions. A flat representation of the mitral valve provides physicians with a view of the whole surface at once, similar to a map. This allows assessment of the valve's area and shape without the need for different viewing angles. Parts of the valve that are occluded by geometry in 3D become visible in 2D. An additional contribution of this work will be the exploration of different visualizations of the 3D and 2D mitral valve representations. Features of the valve can be highlighted by associating them with specified colors, which can for instance directly convey pathology indicators. Quality and effectiveness of the proposed methods were evaluated through a survey conducted at the Heidelberg University Hospital.

Photo realistic rendering of fur (2018)
Hilbig, Lucas
Photo realistic rendering of fur is a common problem in computer graphics and is often needed in animation films. This work presents two illumination models, originally presented for human hair rendering. The first model is from Marschner et al. presented in 2003, which is the basis of many other models. The second model is from d’Eon et al., which was presented in 2011. Both models are implemented into a path tracer, which simulates global illumination. The special features of fur fibers in contrast to human hair fibers will be shown and an explanation, to why both models can also be used for fur rendering, will be given. The main point of interest is a realistic visualization of fur. In addition to that the performance of both models will be compared and a suggestion to improve the performance will be given and evaluated in form of the use of a cylindrical intersection object for path tracing.
Enriching the feature space of transfer learning in user analysis in online social networks (2018)
Zill, Benjamin
Wikipedia is the biggest, free online encyclopaedia that can be expanded by any-one. For the users, who create content on a specific Wikipedia language edition, a social network exists. In this social network users are categorised into different roles. These are normal users, administrators and functional bots. Within the networks, a user can post reviews, suggestions or send simple messages to the "talk page" of another user. Each language in the Wikipedia domain has this type of social network. In this thesis characteristics of the three different roles are analysed in order to learn how they function in one language network of Wikipedia and apply them to another Wikipedia network to identify bots. Timestamps from created posts are analysed to reveal noticeable characteristics referring to continuous messages, message rates and irregular behaviour of a user are discovered. Through this process we show that there exist differences between the roles for the mentioned characteristics.

Truong, Tina
The following work describes the prototypical conception and development of the stat-raising game "Adventurer's Guild" using the game engine Ren'Py. The game's narrative is influenced by player decisions and the planning of activities. The game is to be visually pleasing and enjoyable. After giving an overview of stat-raising as a genre, the existing games "Dandelion - Wishes Brought to You", "Pastry Lovers", "Long Live the Queen" and "Magical Diary" are analysed to pinpoint various strengths and weaknesses of their different takes on the genre. The resultant findings are used for the conception of a new stat-raising game. The game mechanics and the design decisions made are then shown in screenshots and thoroughly explained. In a final assessment, the game will be examined with regard to the given task. Further possibilities for potential improvements and expansions will be detailed at the end.
Sample implementation of internet of things in small and medium enterprises (2018)
Willems, Thomas
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept in which connected physical objects are integrated into the virtual world to become active partakers of businesses and everyday processes (Uckelmann, Harrison and Michahelles, 2011; Shrouf, Ordieres and Miragliotta, 2014). It is expected to have a major impact on businesses (Council, Nic and Intelligence, 2008), but small and medium enterprises’ business models are threatened if they do not adopt the new concept (Sommer, 2015). Thus, this thesis aims to showcase a sample implementation of connected devices in a small enterprise, demonstrating its added benefits for the business. Design Science Research (DSR) is used to develop a prototype based on a use case provided by a carpentry. The prototype comprises a hardware sensor and a web application which can be used by the wood shop to improve their processes. The thesis documents the iterative process of developing a prototype from the grounds up to useable hard- and software. This contribution provides an example of how IoT can be used and implemented at a small business.
Vinio – an open service infrastructure approach to IoT monitoring of vineyard wellness (2018)
Thom, Philipp Julian
This thesis connects the endeavors of the winemaker’s intention in perfect and profitable wine making with an innovative technological application to use Internet of Things. Thereby the winemaker’s work may be supported and enriched – and enables until recent years still unthinkable optimization of managing and planning of his business, including close state control of different areas of his vineyard, and more than that, not ending up with the single grapevine. It is exemplarily shown in this thesis how to measure, transmit, store and make data available, exemplarily demonstrated with “live” temperature, air and soil humidity values from the vineyard. A modular architecture was designed for the system presented, which allows the use of current sensors, and similar low-voltage sensors, which will be developed in the future. By using IoT devices in the vineyard, the winemaker advances to a new quality of precision of forecasted data, starting from live data of his vineyard. Of more and more importance, the winemaker can start immediate action, when unforeseen heavy weather conditions occur. Immediate use of current data enabled by a Cloud Infrastructure. For this system, an open service infrastructure is employed. In contrast to other published commercial approaches, the described solution is based on open source. As an alone-standing part of this work, a physical prototype for measuring relevant parameters in the vineyard was de-novo designed and developed until fulfilling the set of specifications. The outlined features and requirements for a functioning data collection and autonomously transmitting device was developed, described, and the fulfilment by the prototype device were demonstrated. Through literature research and supportive orientationally live interviews of winemakers, the theory and the practical application were synchronized and qualified. For the development of the prototype the general principles of development of an electronic device were followed, in particular the Design Science Research development rules, and principles of Quality Function Deployment. As a characteristic of the prototype, some principles like re-use of approved construction and material price of the building blocks of the device were taken into consideration as well (e.g. housing; Arduino; PCB). Parts reduction principles, decomplexation and simplified assembly, testing and field service were integrated to the development process by the modular design of the functional vineyard device components, e.g. with partial reference to innovative electrical cabinet construction system Modular-3. The software architectural concept is based on a three-layer architecture inclusive the TTN infrastructure. The front end is realized as a rich web client, using a WordPress plugin. WordPress was chosen due to the wide adoption through the whole internet, enabling fast and easy user familiarization. Relevant quality issues have been tested and discussed in the view of exemplary functionality, extensibility, requirements fulfilment, as usability and durability of the device and the software. The prototype was characterized and tested with success in the laboratory and in field exposition under different conditions, in order to allow a measurement and analysis of the fulfilment of all requirements by the selected and realized electronic construction and layout. The solution presented may serve as a basis for future development and application in this special showcase and within similar technologies. A prognosis of future work and applications concludes this work.
Molekulardynamik: Simulation der Bewegung von Molekülen (2018)
Baulig, Lukas
In this bachelor thesis a system for the simulation of the movements of molecules is developed. The calculation of the forces between chemically bonded atoms as well as intermolecular forces is done almost entirely on the GPU. The visualization of the simulation happens at an interactive framerate. To achieve rendering in realtime on off-the-shelf graphics cards, apt optimizations and slight abstractions of the underlying physical models are needed. One can control the execution speed or completely stop the simulation at any given moment. Some of the parameters of the underlying physical models of the simulation can be modified at runtime. With the right settings for the parameters, some phenomena of molecular dynamics can be observed, for example the spacial structure of the molecules.

Algorithmic composition is an interdisciplinary topic that unites music and science. The computer is able to generate algorithmic music with the aid of a specific algorithm. In this bachelor thesis, algorithmic composition is realized with the biology-inspired algorithms called Lindenmayer-system and cellular automaton. In order to realize the compositions, several techniques are presented as well as implemented and evaluated. Those techniques map the generated data from the algorithms on a meaningful musical result.
Wehrmann, Jan-Niklas
Digitalisation and further media development are core processes of the current digital age. In order for companies to benefit from technical progress, their employees must have or are expected to acquire the relevant skills. Companies therefore are faced with the task of not being overwhelmed with the mass of innovations and opportunities and, in the best-case scenario, of being able to use them to improve their own performance. Small and medium-sized enterprises represent 99% of all enterprises in Germany. Though, it has not been further established, how the majority of small enterprises and their employees participate in this development. The research question therefore consists of two parts. On the one hand: "Is the promotion of employees' skills taken care of in micro-enterprises?" and on the other hand: "Where are the opportunities and challenges for companies of this size?” In order to answer the research question, a qualitative research method was used, the guideline-based interview. The interviewed companies were all in the media and IT sector. Thus, the recorded and transcribed data provided a real insight into the current situation in micro-enterprises. The responses to the interviews showed that companies with very small numbers of employees are more dependent on their employees than others. So, the commitment of the employees is decisive for the success of the company itself. It is the management's task to promote this and ensure employee satisfaction. Companies that pay more attention to employee development are therefore more recommendable for career starters who need and/or want to develop themselves and their entire horizon of experience.
Schmidt, Patrik
Helicopters are crucial in today’s life. A vast amount of applications prove their range, which are not coverable by other types of aircraft. But they are very complex systems, both, technically and physically. This is one of the reasons why pilot training for helicopters is quite challenging. In the last two decades flight simulators became a supplementary instrument in the educational process of pilots. With flight simulators it is possible to replay uncommon or dangerous situations. In this thesis a simple flight simulator for helicopters will be developed based on rigid body physics. The foundation is a simplified rotor model which omits complex fluid dynamics. This helps to keep the implementation simple and illustrative as well as provide simulation rates at real-time. The modules are implemented within the Unreal Engine in such way, that changing helicopter characteristics is very easy.
Untersuchung von Spielspaß an „Mäusefallen“ (2018)
Kieu, Giang Duc
How does gameplay influence the fun in video games? This article will search for an answer to this question by using a self-made video game created from scratch. This video game will be programmed in two versions with differences only in gameplay. Several test persons are then to play this game. A survey will be answered afterwards. In order to gain values that are merely influenced by gameplay changes, thoughts on the game design and conception were made. Results suggest that gameplay has a big impact on fun in video games. But gameplay isn't the only responsible factor that makes a video game amusing. Psychological aspects are present when the gameplay of a video game changes.

The activity fields of Entrepreneurship networks (2018)
Eunicke, Merlin
Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in scientific literature and in public debates. Especially in these hightech and digitized times it happens more and more frequently that young entrepreneurs with a good idea make the breakthrough and set up an established company. Basically, there are an increasing number of start-ups and a trend towards independence. The economy of a country depends on young entrepreneurs in order to remain economically competitive in international competition. It follows that young entrepreneurs must be encouraged and supported. This support is expressed in various stages of foundation and through various fields of action. In the meantime, there are many offers for start-up support. These networks satisfy different fields of action along a foundation. However, a structured overview of these networks on which a young founder can orient himself and gain easily access to the offers of the networks, is missing until then. This work attempts to present these offers clearly on a map and to categorize and present the commitment in the respective fields of action. In addition to this main objective, the following three key questions are investigated and answered in this work: 1. How can the Entrepreneurship Networks be assigned to the respective fields of action of Entrepreneurship Education? 2. What is the benefit of such a classification for potential entrepreneurs in detail? 3. Are these Entrepreneurship networks missing an important step? Might they improve their offer? Does the value chain cover every need a young entrepreneur might have? For this purpose, the respective fields of action of the networks are first separated from each other along a founding and defined individually. Subsequently, a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches was used to filter and analyze the contents of the websites of the networks. The results of this investigation were transformed in a classification The aim of this work is to produce a map that displays the existing networks in the world clearly. The map also contains information that is more detailed and the classifica-tion of the networks in the respective fields of action.
Gestaltung von Innenräumen mit Hilfe eines hybriden AR-/VR-Systems (2018)
Geiger, Benedikt
This Bachelor thesis illustrates the connection between the technologies Augmented and Virtual Reality and creates an expedient interdependency of the two forms of presentation. For this purpose, an application in the area of interior design has been implemented, where designing a room can be made more intuitive by using Augmented Reality, as it provides a realistic impression of the planned apartment with a Virtual Reality simulation. Based on the relevant knowledge, a project-concept has been drafted and realized by using several development systems. During a series of tests this implementation has been evaluated and subsequently optimized. The result confirms the assumption, that Augmented and Virtual Reality with their strengths can be combined to an evident solution. This thesis is relevant for computer science students as well as for people interested in innovative solutions.
Smart Building Solutions - Generischer Ansatz für die Identifikation von Raumsteuerungsfunktionen (2018)
Uhlmann, Peer
40 percent of current housing and real estate companies plan to integrate intelligent control systems into their properties during new construction and modernization. At the same time, Internet companies are pushing their devices into homes and apartments, promising intelligent services for their users. The term "Smart Home" is used for both types of new technologies. The first group of systems has its origins in the field of "Building Automation", the second group developed from the concept of the "Internet of Things". In order to discover what the differences are and what common foundations exist, both the areas of Building Automation and Internet of Things are analyzed and compared. The central contribution of this thesis is the realization that both domains are based on similar concepts and an integration is possible, without compromising the integrity of the systems themselves. In addition, the work provides an approach to designing Building Automation Systems with the integration of the Internet of Things.
Schwanekamp, Hendrik
In this bachelor thesis a code for astrophysical self-gravitating fluid simulation is developed. The code runs mainly on the GPU. Minimal simplifications of the physical model and some parameters for accuracy and tuning allow simulations to be performed at interactive framerates on most modern consumer grade computers that feature a dedicated graphics card. It is used to simulate the birth of stars from a turbulent molecular cloud. Multiple features of star formation, like accretion discs and fragmentation, can be observed in the simulation, even when low particle counts are used.
Volumetrische Beleuchtung (2018)
Kingston, Michael
Volumetric lighting is a common lighting phenomena in nature and carries an important role in the realistic appearance of computergenerated images. This thesis explains the physical background of this phenomena and lists common modells for visualising volumetric lighting in Computergraphics. Following this, this thesis compares three methods for visualising volumetric lighting with modern graphics hardware and compares these according to their abilities, restrictions and performance in an OpenGL implementation.
Rendering von Freiformflächen (2018)
Bast, Liam Oliver
In no other field of computer science has the hardware been evolved more quickly than in computer graphics. Therefore the GPU offers, aside from the pure rendering of triangles, a bunch of further pipeline steps that allows visualisation of other graphics objects, like freeform surfaces. This bachelor’s thesis is about the rendering of freeform surfaces, in particular bezier surfaces. For that reason an implementation for management and visualisation of bézier surfaces was created for the rendering framework of the university Koblenz (CVK). For this purpose first a triangulation was implemented and finally a tesselation of bezier surfaces with normals and texture coordinates, as well as the handling of trim curves.
Raytracing mit Vulkan (2018)
Grimmig, Jasper
IoT supported gamification in healthcare-insurance (2018)
Müller, Philipp
During the last couple of years the extension of the internet into the real world, also referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT), was positively affected by an ongoing digitalization (Mattern and Floerkemeier, 2010; Evans, 2013). Furthermore, one of the most active IoT domains is the personal health ecosystem (Steele and Clarke, 2013). However, this thesis proposes a gamification framework which is supported and enabled by IoT to bring personal health and IoT together in the context of health-insurances. By examining gamification approaches and identifying the role of IoT in such, a conceptual model of a gamification approach was created which indicates where and how IoT is ap-plicable to it. Hence, IoT acts as enabler and furthermore as enhancer of gamified activities. Especial-ly the necessity of wearable devices was highlighted. A stakeholder analysis shed light on respective benefits which concluded in the outcome, that IoT enabled two paradigm shifts for both, the insur-ance and their customer. While taking the results of the examination and the stakeholder analysis as input, the previously made insights were used to develop an IoT supported gamification framework. The framework includes a multi-level structure which is meant to guide through the process of creat-ing an approach but also to analyze already existing approaches. Additionally, the developed frame-work was instantiated based on the application Pokémon Go to identify occurring issues and explain why it failed to retain their customer in the long term. The thesis provides a foundation on which fur-ther context related research can be orientated.

For this purpose, the most important Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) available on the market are presented and compared. Subsequently, two standard algorithms from the field data processing, prefix sum and radixsort are presented and examined with regard to the implementation with parallel programming on the GPU. Both algorithms were implemented using the OpenGL-API and OpenGL compute shaders. Finally, the execution times of the two algorithms were compared.
Rendering von Haaren und Fell (2018)
Kraft, Emma Jane

Furthermore existing software, which deals with similar issues, is described. Next the prerequisites for the development of the program are presented and the tool is described in detail. Concluding the tool is evaluated concerning performance and usage and a summarizing conclusion is given. The program turns out as a helpful tool for current research and a good base for further and deeper research projects.
Development of guidelines that support organisations in managing their knowledge assets by means of IT (2018)
Schmitz, Christoph
Companies try to utilise Knowledge Management (KM) to gain more efficiency and effectiveness in business. The major problem is that most of these KM projects are not or rarely based on sustainable analyses or established theories about KM. Often there is a big gap between the expectations and the real outcome of such KM initiatives. So the research question to be answered is: What challenges arise in KM projects, which KM requirements can be derived from them and which recommendations support the goal of meeting the requirements for KM? As theoretical foundation a set of KM frameworks is examined. Subsequently KM challenges from literature are analysed and best practices from case studies are used to provide recommendations for action on this challenges. The main outcome of this thesis is a best practice guideline, which allows Chief Knowledge Officers (CKOs) and KM project managers to examine the challenges mentioned in this thesis closely, and to find a suitable method to master these challenge in an optimal way. This guideline shows that KM can be positively and negatively influenced in a variety of ways. Mastering Knowledge Management (KM) in a company is a big and far-reaching venture and that technology respectively Information Technology (IT) is only a part of the big picture.
Development of an augmented assembly scenario with Lego bricks for the Microsoft HoloLens (2017)
Thies, Darius
Augmented reality is being present for many years. Through progress in technology smaller augmented reality glasses became possible. These new technologies allow many new ways of interaction and usage of augmented reality. This thesis is about the Microsoft HoloLens and its possiblities for consumers and industry. In the context of this thesis a new interactive and augmented application to measure the possiblities and limitations of the Microsoft HoloLens has been developed. The scene is an assembly szenario with a step by step instruction of building with Lego bricks. The evaluation showed that the HoloLens can already be used to assist in assembling scenarios and offers some advantages over other methods, although the glasses still have some flaws.
BVH- und Line-Space-Kombination zur Pathtracing-Beschleunigung (2017)
Braun, Johannes
This thesis tests several methods and measures in pathtracing for selecting either the Line Space or the Bounding Volume Hierarchy data structure to make use of the advantages of both. The structures are defined locally around each object and each Line Space shaft contains one candidate ID each. All implementation is done as a C++ and OpenGL framework with compute shaders handling the pathtracing and Line Space generation. The measures include the probability distribution, the effect dependency, as well as a distance threshold and are tested against several different scenes. In most situations, the results show a noticeable increase in performance, partly only with minor visual differences, with the probability measure producing the highest quality images for a given performance. The fundamental problems of the Line Space concering the high memory consumption and a long generation time compared to the BVH still persist, despite the object local structure, a minimal amount of data per shaft and the compute shader implementation.
Wiebe, Brigitte
Since software influences nearly every aspect of everyday life, the security of software systems is more important than ever before. The evaluation of the security of a software system still poses a significant challenge in practice, mostly due to the lack of metrics, which can map the security properties of source code onto numeric values. It is a common assumption, that the occurrence of security vulnerabilities and the quality of the software design stand in direct correlation, but there is currently no clear evidence to support this. A proof of an existing correlation could help to optimize the measurements of program security, making it possible to apply quality measurements to evaluate it. For this purpose, this work evaluates fifty open-source android applications, using three security and seven quality metrics. It also considers the correlations between the metrics. The quality metrics range from simple code metrics to high-level metrics such as object-oriented anti-patterns, which together provide a comprehensive picture of the quality. Two visibility metrics, along with a metric that computes the minimal permission request for mobile applications, were selected to illustrate the security. Using the evaluation projects, it was found that there is a clear correlation between most quality metrics. By contrast, no significant correlations were found using the security metrics. This work discusses the correlations and their causes as well as further recommendations based on the findings.
Grenzen und Möglichkeiten der HoloLens im Bereich Gaming (2017)
Deeming, Alexander James
This thesis deals with the exploration of different interaction possibilities for three-dimensional, virtual objects in a real environment. The focus lies especially on interaction possibilities from new AR-technologies. A playful prototype of an application for Microsofts HoloLens will be designed and implemented. The prototype consists of three parts. The first part is the scan-process of the real environment of the user. In the second part the user can augment the real environment with three-dimensional, virtual objects. In the third part the user is supposed to navigate a virtual avatar through the real environment. The interaction possibilities of the HoloLens like Gaze, Gesture and VoiceInput will be evaluated in the following categories menu navigation, positioning of three-dimensional objects in a real environment and controlling an avatar.
Light-Injection und Global Illumination mittels GPU und der Linespace Datenstruktur (2017)
Nilles, Alexander Maximilian
This thesis presents two methods for the computation of global illumination. The first is an extension of Reflective Shadow Maps with an additional shadow test in order to handle occlusion. The second method is a novel, bidirectional Light-Injection approach. Rays originating from the light source are traced through the scene and stored inside the shafts of the Linespace datastructure. These shafts are a discretization of the possible spatial directions. The Linespaces are embedded in a Uniform Grid. When retrieving this pre-calculated lightning information no traversal of datastructures and no additional indirection is necessary in the best-case scenario. This reduces computation time and variance compared to Pathtracing. Areas that are mostly lit indirectly and glas profit the most from this. However, the result is only approximative in nature and produces visible artifacts.
Echtzeit Raytracing mittels GPU und der Linespace Datenstruktur (2017)
Seggebäing, Alexander
This thesis explores different approaches for the acceleration of raytracing calculations on the graphics processing unit (GPU). For that a voxel grid is used and extended by the linespace data structure. The linespace consists of direction based shafts and stores the objects located in those shafts in a candidate list. Different methods for the sorting and traversal of the linespace are presented and evaluated. The shown methods cannot provide a speed up of the frame rate without resulting in a loss of image quality.
Spectral Graph Convolutional Networks for Part-of-Speech Tagging (2017)
Demirel, Saner
Part-of-Speech tagging is the process of assigning words with similar grammatical properties to a part of speech (PoS). In the English language, PoS-tagging algorithms generally reach very high accuracy. This thesis undertakes the task to test against these accuracies in PoS-tagging as a qualitative measure in classification capabilities for a recently developed neural network model, called graph convolutional network (GCN). The novelty proposed in this thesis is to translate a corpus into a graph as a direct input for the GCN. The experiments in this thesis serve as a proof of concept with room for improvements.
Augmented Reality Anwendung für Windows Mixed Reality unter Verwendung der HoloLens zur Vermarktung von Werbeflächen (2017)
Schröder, Sören
This bachelor thesis deals with the development of an application for the Microsoft HoloLens. The application is used for the marketing of advertis- ing spaces that belongs to the company awk AUSSENWERBUNG GmbH. On basis of the development, the question is answered which are the pos- sibilities and limitations of the HoloLens and the Mixed Reality Platform. Problems are also addressed, that come along with the development of an application for such a new technology, like the HoloLens is. Beside the new technologies, some challenges come also from the applications oper- ational locations. Several application examples and presentations suggest, that the HoloLens is primarily designed for indoor usage. Instead the de- veloped application is for outdoor use only. During the development, sev- eral insights can be gained about this new technology. On the one hand it becomes clear, that the HoloLens and also the development environment aren’t completely matured yet. On the other hand, that the HoloLens isn’t an outdoor device at all. Despite the difficulties during the development, there occur many possibilities that are associated with this new technology.
Langzeitanalyse der Entwicklung der Netzwerkstrukturen auf UniConnect. Methoden der Social Network Analysis im Kontext von Enterprise Collaboration Systems. (2017)
Pontow, Larissa
This bachelor thesis examines methods of Social Network Analysis in the context of in-house collaboration platforms and gives an overview of appropriate metrics based on findings in literature. Within this literature analysis advantages in analyzing these enterprise social networks for companies are pointed out. Also possible problems, for example relating to data protection, will be explained. Based on dynamical long-term analysis of the network of UniConnect it was detected, that measures of centrality show the connectedness of an actor. These measures allow drawing conclusions concerning position and function of the employee in the company. Furthermore the complexity of the network can be determined through clique analysis. By viewing at the gradual development of the network, it is possible to identify persons, who are strongly interconnected within a short period of time. These employees have strategic importance relating to knowledge management and the dissemination of information within the company.
Extension of a GPU-based raytracer to local linespaces (2017)
Korbach, Christian
This thesis presents the use of a local linespace data structure, which is designed and implemented on the basis of an existing GPU-based raytra- cer with a global linespace data structure. For each scene object, an N-tree is generated whose nodes each have a linespace. This saves informations about existing geometry in its shafts. A shaft represents a volume between two faces on the outside of the node. This allows a faster skipping of em- pty spaces during raytracing. Identical objects can access already calcula- ted linespaces, which can reduce the memory requirement by up to 94.13% and the initialization time of the datastructure by up to 97.15%. Due to the local access possibilities dynamic scenes can be visualized. An increase in quality can also be observed.
Kloft, Felix
While real-time applications used to be executed on highly specialized hardware and individually developed operation systems, nowadays more often regular off-the-shelf hardware is used, with a variation of the Linux kernel running on top. Within the scope of this thesis, test methods have been developed and implemented as a real-time application to measure several performance properties of the Linux kernel with regards to its real-time capability. These tests have been run against three different versions of the Linux kernel. Afterwards, the results of the test series were compared to each other.
Hoffmanns Der Sandmann - Buch & Film (2017)
Henne, Arthur
In the last few years the Internet of things has gained increased attention from authors as well as companies due to its innovation potential. The rising interest in the Internet of Things has also affected the logistics, which currently suffers from the effects of the globalization and the ever-increasing competitive pressure. Thus, there are efforts to discover how the logistics can profit from the use of IoT concepts, ideas and technologies to help it overcome its challenges. This research study focuses on the identification of these efforts and the corresponding research for logistics processes. For that purpose the researcher explored current literature referring to this topic. The final outcome of this paper is a structured overview of the identified IoT use-cases, their corresponding technologies and devices and finally their affected stakeholders. Whether the expectations regarding the IoT implementation in logistics processes are met, how companies can profit from these use-cases and which problems potentially arise by using IoT devices and technologies in logistics are answered at the end of this paper.
Long-term information management in Collaborative Project Management Software (2017)
Hansen, Christian
With global and distributed project teams being increasingly common Collaborative Project Management is becoming the prevalent paradigm for the work in most organisations. Software has for many years been one of the most used tools for supporting Project Management and with the focus on Collaborative Project Management and accompanied by the emergence of Enterprise Collaboration Systems (ECS), Collaborative Project Management Software (CPMS) is gaining increased attention. This thesis examines the capabilities of CPMS for the long-term management of information which not only includes the management of files within these systems, but the management of all types of digital business documents, particularly social business documents. Previous research shows that social content in collaboration software is often poorly managed which poses challenges to meeting performance and conformance objectives in a business. Based on literature research, requirements for the long-term management of information in CPMS are defined and 7 CPMS tools are analysed regarding the content they contain and the functionalities for the long-term management of this content they offer. The study shows that CPMS by and large are not able to meet the long-term information management needs of an organisation on their own and that only the tools geared towards enterprise customers have sufficient capabilities to support the implementation of an Enterprise Information Management strategy.
Global Illumination using GPU Path Tracing and the Line Space datastructure (2017)
Schröder, Felix-León
This thesis presents a novel technique in computer graphics to simulate realtime global illumination using path tracing. Path tracing is done with compute shaders on the graphics card (GPU) to perform rendering in a highly parallelized manner. To improve the overall performance of tracing rays, the Line Space is used as an acceleration data structure in different variations, resulting in better empty space skipping. The Line Space saves scene information based on a previous voxelization in direction-dependent shafts and is generated and traversed on the GPU. With this procedure, indirect lighting and soft shadows can be computed in a physically correct way. Furthermore, using the Line Space, path tracing can be performed mostly independent of the complexity of the scene geometry with over 100 frames per second, which is truly real-time and much faster than using a comparable voxel grid. The image quality is not affected negatively by this technique and the shadow quality is in most cases much better compared to shadow-mapping.
Arduino basierte Sensorknoten für Fließgewässermonitoring (2017)
Diez, Sergei
This Work analyzes if a hardware prototype on an Arduino basis for an Adhoc Network can be created. The objective of the prototype development is, the creation of a sensor node with a modular design, where components can be easily changed. Furthermore the application area has requirements, which the node must fulfill. These requirements are derived from the Tmote Sky sensor node, therefore the new created sensor node must be a possible alternative for it and fulfill the same functions. For that purpose this study reviews some available Arduino microprocessors on their suitability for a sensor node. Later in the work the composition of the sensor node is documented. For this, the hardware and their costs are illustrated. The created hardware prototype allows, through easily changed radio modules, the covering of 433 MHz, 866 MHz and 2,40 GHz radio frequencies. At the end of the work, the sensor node prototype is used in an experiment to check for the suitability for water monitoring. For this, an experiment was performed on land and on water and the results evaluated. In the end the prototype fulfilled most of the requirements, but the cost was a little too high.
Internet of Things - Ein Lösungsansatz zur Unterstützung nachhaltiger Unternehmen (2017)
Nickel, Lorena
Simulation of augmented-reality devices on virtual-reality systems in Unity (2016)
Pohl, Marcel
Augmented Reality has many areas of application. It can be used to simplify everyday life as well as working processes. However, since there are many manufacturers that offer greatly varying systems, choosing the correct system according to application as well as cross-platform development are dfficult. This thesis attempts to develop an application which can be used to simulate Augmented Reality devices on Virtual Reality systems. This should simplify the processes of choosing a system as well as cross-platform development. Since the simulation will be designed to run on mobile devices, it should be possible to render high quality, realistic environments in advance, using a panoramic image. On a Virtual Reality device, they need to be displayed as a stereoscopic image. To achieve this, several methods are presented that can be used to perform this conversion. An editor will be created which will allow the creation of scenes, configuration of Augmented Reality devices and displaying them on a Virtual Reality system. For closing this thesis a test will be performed, to check the quality of the simulation as well as improvements that can be made.

Physikalisch basierte Verwitterung von Früchten (2016)
Chevalier, Julia
A special challenge of the basic musical education of children is to give them an understanding of reading and writing musical scores. During the training of young choristers it is furthermore important to educate them in directly transforming the written scores into sounds. Therefore it is an interesting idea to play the sounds to the children via piano or keyboard and simultaneously present them on a screen in musical notation. The aim of this bachelor thesis is the implementation of such a system that allows to enter scores using a MIDI-compatible keyboard and then depicting these as musical notation. The prototype of the application operates in three steps. It receives the musical scores via keyboard in form of MIDIdatasets. These MIDI-information are converted to the MusicXML-format. Based on this MusicXML-notation the software finally generates and displays the visual output.
Okulographisch basierte Untersuchung mit dem E-Lern-System Compass (2016)
Arshad, Kashif
This examination broaches the issue of an investigation that is supported by the eye-tracking technologie and uses the e-learn-system Compass. For this investigation, there was carried out an experiment to test participants if they recognize agreement errors in the subjekt-verb- congruence in german sentences. The idea for that came from an other survey, that was hold for the englisch language. The integration of the e-learn-system Compass intended the observation of the participants learning behaviour. The experiment was able to be evaluated and analysed by the software of the eye-tracker, that recorded all eye movements and created valuable data out of them. It was assumed to catch the participants eye movements such as fixations or regressions. The result was very clear: errors in congruence betweet subject and verb were done often. Besides, the error-rate increases proportionally to the length of the sentence.
Entrepreneurial Personality Traits (2016)
Keller, Manuela
How entrepreneurs become successful with their business ideas has been a topic of discussion within entrepreneurial research circles for many years. Business success has been related to psychological characteristics and many research findings have explained how people become entrepreneurs and furthermore, how they find success in regards to their business ventures. People always wanted to know what defines an entrepreneur and more importantly, what is needed to become a successful entrepreneur. Curious minds began to search for the recipe for success. Personality Traits have been researched for years, leading to the discovery of many diverse and distinct forms which are still recognized today. Researchers compared the Behavioral Approach or the analysis of demographical characteristics to success. This raises the question of what an entrepreneur needs to become successful which is made more difficult due to the fact that entrepreneurship and who an entrepreneur is can be difficult do define exactly. Entrepreneurs are diverse and distinct individuals that each possess their own characteristics, behavior and reasons for starting a business. Many people assume that it is just someone who starts their own business. While partially correct, this only scratches the surface of what it is to be an entrepreneur. This thesis answers the following three research questions: 1. Which personality traits were found in the almost sixty years of researching? 2. What triggers do entrepreneurs need for starting a new business? 3. Which factor makes the entrepreneur successful with their business idea? Also, reading the thesis, one may gain a better understanding of what entrepreneurship is, what defines an entrepreneur and what one needs to become a successful entrepreneur. In this thesis the reviewing literature method developed by Wolfswinkel et al. (2011) was used to identify suitable literature and references for the main chapters. For that the five stages of the grounded-theory method for reviewing the literature were used in an iterative fashion. In step one inclusion and exclusion criterias for literature were defined. Then literature was searched matching the criterias of step one. In step three the samples were refined. Then in step four the found literature was analyzed and coded before the results of this research was presented in the following text. Many entrepreneurial personality traits were discovered and confirmed during the studies conducted over the last sixty years, these include but are not limited to Need for Achievement, Locus of Control, or risk taking propensity. Motivation is clearly the main trigger to start your own business. During the studies reasons were discovered of how and why an entrepreneur may become successful outside of posessing the right combination of traits. For example: having human, financial and social capital, an entrepreneurial behavior and the right economic conditions to start a business that will survive for more than five years.
Persistence of chemical and biological effects of olive mill wastewater seasonally applied to loessial olive orchard soil (2016)
Steinmetz, Zacharias
During olive oil production, large amounts of olive mill wastewater (OMW) are generated within a short period of time. OMW has a high nutrient content and could serve as fertilizer when applied on land. However, its fatty and phenolic constituents have adverse effects on soil properties. It is still unknown how seasonal fluctuations in temperature and precipitation influence the fate and effect of OMW components on soil properties in a long-term perspective. An appropriate application season could mitigate negative consequences of OMW while preserving its beneficial effects. In order to investigate this, 14 L OMW m-2 were applied to different plots of an olive plantation in winter, spring, and summer respectively. Hydrological soil properties (water drop penetration time, hydraulic conductivity, dynamic contact angle), physicochemical parameters (pH, EC, soluble ions, phenolic compounds, organic matter), and biological degradation (bait-lamina test) were measured to assess the soil state after OMW application. After one rainy season following OMW application, the soil quality of summer treatments significantly decreased compared to the control. This was particularly apparent in a three-times lower biodegradation performance, ten-fold higher soil water repellency, and a four-fold higher content of phenolic compounds. The soil properties of winter treatments were comparable to the control, which demonstrated the recovery potential of the soil ecosystem. Spring treatments resulted in an intermediate response compared to summer and winter treatments, but without any precipitation following OMW application. Significant accumulation or leaching effects to deeper soil were not observed. Therefore, the direct application of legally restricted OMW amounts to soil is considered acceptable during the moist seasons. Further research is needed to quantify the effect of spring treatments and to gain further insight into the composition and kinetics of organic OMW constituents in the soil.
Comparison of mobile applications for enterprise content management systems (2016)
Niendorf, René
This thesis is providing an overview over the current topics and influences of mobile components on Enterprise Content Management (ECM). With a literature review the core topics of enterprise mobility and ECM have been identified and projected on the context of using mobile Apps within the environment of ECM. An analysis of three ECM systems and their mobile software lead to an understanding of the functionalities and capabilities mobile systems are providing in the ECM environment. These findings lead to a better un- derstanding for the usage of mobile Enterprise Content Management and is preparation. The thesis focuses the most important topics, which need to be considered for the usage and adoption of mobile Apps in ECM.
Web analytics: functions, KPIs and reports in SMEs (2016)
Heller, Dominik
We are entering the 26th year from the time the World Wide Web (WWW) became reality. Since the birth of the WWW in 1990, the Internet and therewith websites have changed the way businesses compete, shifting products, services and even entire markets. Therewith, gathering and analysing visitor traffic on websites can provide crucial information to un- derstand customer behavior and numerous other aspects. Web Analytics (WA) tools offer a quantity of diverse functionality, which calls for complex decision- making in information management. Website operators implement Web Analytic tools such as Google Analytics to analyse their website for the purpose of identifying web usage to optimise website design and management. The gathered data leads to emergent knowledge, which provides new marketing opportunities and can be used to improve business processes and understand customer behavior to increase profit. Moreover, Web Analytics plays a significant role to measure performance and has therefore become an important component in web-based environments to make business decisions. However, many small and medium –sized enterprises try to keep up with the web business competi- tion, but do not have the equivalent resources in manpower and knowledge to stand the pace, there- fore some even resign entirely on Web Analytics. This research project aims to develop a Web Analytics framework to assist small and medium-sized enterprises in making better use of Web Analytics. By identifying business requirements of SMEs and connecting them to the functionality of Google Analytics, a Web Analytics framework with attending guidelines is developed, which guides SMEs on how to proceed in using Google Analytics to achieve actionable outcomes.
Darstellung von Halbschatten durch Verwendung des "Cascaded Linespace"-Verfahrens (2016)
Klee, Nicolas
This thesis presents an approach to optimizing the computation of soft shadows from area lights. The light source is sampled uniformly by traversing shadow rays as packets through an N-tree. This data structure stores an additional line space for every node. A line space stores precomputed information about geometry inside of shafts from one to another side of the node. This visibility information is used to terminate a ray. Additionally the graphics processing unit (short GPU) is used to speed up the computations through parallelism. The scene is rendered with OpenGL and the shadow value is computed on the GPU for each pixel. Evaluating the implementation shows a performance gain of 86% by comparison to the CPU, if using the GPU implementation. Using the line space instead of triangle intersections also increases the performance. The implementation provides good scaling with an increasing amount of triangles and has no visual disadvantages for many rays.
Lokalisation mittels Ultraschall (2016)
Opdenberg, Marcus
Ziganow, Marcel
The present thesis deals with the realization of a stepper motor driver on an 8-bit microcontroller by the company Atmel. The focus is on the devel- opment of a current control, which allows microstepping in addition to the basic modes of operation like full- and halfstep. For this purpose, a PI con- troller is derived using physical and control engineering principles, which is implemented on the microcontroller. In this context, essential knowledge for the practical implementation will be discussed. In addition, the development of the hardware is documented, which is of great significance for the current measurement.
