Zufriedenheitsstudie der Studierenden des FB 4 an der Universität Koblenz-Landau am Campus Koblenz
(2009)
In this thesis a web service (SOA) is designed and implemented that can detect a watermark in an audio file by remote control. The thesis forms part of the URM (Usage Rights Management) project, which is developed at the University of Koblenz-Landau. The project deals with a concept of a licencing process that keeps users informed about their rights on acquired digital content. Taking WAV files as an example, the thesis represents a rudimentary way of extracting information from a digital medium.
We are entering the 26th year from the time the World Wide Web (WWW) became reality. Since the birth of the WWW in 1990, the Internet and therewith websites have changed the way businesses compete, shifting products, services and even entire markets.
Therewith, gathering and analysing visitor traffic on websites can provide crucial information to un- derstand customer behavior and numerous other aspects.
Web Analytics (WA) tools offer a quantity of diverse functionality, which calls for complex decision- making in information management. Website operators implement Web Analytic tools such as Google Analytics to analyse their website for the purpose of identifying web usage to optimise website design and management. The gathered data leads to emergent knowledge, which provides new marketing opportunities and can be used to improve business processes and understand customer behavior to increase profit. Moreover, Web Analytics plays a significant role to measure performance and has therefore become an important component in web-based environments to make business decisions.
However, many small and medium –sized enterprises try to keep up with the web business competi- tion, but do not have the equivalent resources in manpower and knowledge to stand the pace, there- fore some even resign entirely on Web Analytics.
This research project aims to develop a Web Analytics framework to assist small and medium-sized enterprises in making better use of Web Analytics. By identifying business requirements of SMEs and connecting them to the functionality of Google Analytics, a Web Analytics framework with attending guidelines is developed, which guides SMEs on how to proceed in using Google Analytics to achieve actionable outcomes.

Volumetrische Beleuchtung
(2018)
Volumetric lighting is a common lighting phenomena in nature and carries an important role in the realistic appearance of computergenerated images. This thesis explains the physical background of this phenomena and lists common modells for visualising volumetric lighting in Computergraphics. Following this, this thesis compares three methods for visualising volumetric lighting with modern graphics hardware and compares these according to their abilities, restrictions and performance in an OpenGL implementation.
This work describes a novel software tool for visualizing anatomical segmentations of medical images. It was developed as part of a bachelor's thesis project, with a view to supporting research into automatic anatomical brain image segmentation. The tool builds on a widely-used visualization approach for 3D image volumes, where sections in orthogonal directions are rendered on screen as 2D images. It implements novel display modes that solve common problems with conventional viewer programs. In particular, it features a double-contour display mode to aid the user's spatial orientation in the image, as well as modes for comparing two competing segmentation labels pertaining to one and the same anatomical region. The tool was developed as an extension to an existing open-source software suite for medical image processing. The visualization modes are, however, suitable for implementation in the context of other viewer programs that follow a similar rendering approach.
The modified code can be found here: soundray.org/mm-segmentation-visualization.tar.gz.

This thesis connects the endeavors of the winemaker’s intention in perfect and profitable wine making with an innovative technological application to use Internet of Things. Thereby the winemaker’s work may be supported and enriched – and enables until recent years still unthinkable optimization of managing and planning of his business, including close state control of different areas of his vineyard, and more than that, not ending up with the single grapevine. It is exemplarily shown in this thesis how to measure, transmit, store and make data available, exemplarily demonstrated with “live” temperature, air and soil humidity values from the vineyard. A modular architecture was designed for the system presented, which allows the use of current sensors, and similar low-voltage sensors, which will be developed in the future.
By using IoT devices in the vineyard, the winemaker advances to a new quality of precision of forecasted data, starting from live data of his vineyard. Of more and more importance, the winemaker can start immediate action, when unforeseen heavy weather conditions occur. Immediate use of current data enabled by a Cloud Infrastructure. For this system, an open service infrastructure is employed. In contrast to other published commercial approaches, the described solution is based on open source.
As an alone-standing part of this work, a physical prototype for measuring relevant parameters in the vineyard was de-novo designed and developed until fulfilling the set of specifications. The outlined features and requirements for a functioning data collection and autonomously transmitting device was developed, described, and the fulfilment by the prototype device were demonstrated. Through literature research and supportive orientationally live interviews of winemakers, the theory and the practical application were synchronized and qualified.
For the development of the prototype the general principles of development of an electronic device were followed, in particular the Design Science Research development rules, and principles of Quality Function Deployment. As a characteristic of the prototype, some principles like re-use of approved construction and material price of the building blocks of the device were taken into consideration as well (e.g. housing; Arduino; PCB). Parts reduction principles, decomplexation and simplified assembly, testing and field service were integrated to the development process by the modular design of the functional vineyard device components, e.g. with partial reference to innovative electrical cabinet construction system Modular-3.
The software architectural concept is based on a three-layer architecture inclusive the TTN infrastructure. The front end is realized as a rich web client, using a WordPress plugin. WordPress was chosen due to the wide adoption through the whole internet, enabling fast and easy user familiarization. Relevant quality issues have been tested and discussed in the view of exemplary functionality, extensibility, requirements fulfilment, as usability and durability of the device and the software.
The prototype was characterized and tested with success in the laboratory and in field exposition under different conditions, in order to allow a measurement and analysis of the fulfilment of all requirements by the selected and realized electronic construction and layout.
The solution presented may serve as a basis for future development and application in this special showcase and within similar technologies. A prognosis of future work and applications concludes this work.
This thesis deals with the distribution of large virtual networks to multiple physical hosts using the virtualization tools VNUML and EDIV. While VNUML is responsible for simulating the network, EDIV has its focus primarily on the distributiion. After a short explanation of basic terms and concepts from the field of network simulation, the two previously mentioned virtualization tools are described in detail. This starts in both cases with a detailed description regarding the proper installation and configuration, followed by a demonstration of the most important functions, such as starting or stopping a simulation. The creation of a suitable network scenario and the information scripts provided by EDIV are two further points described in this context. To use the presented possibilities of those tools in practice, an own network scenario is designed and distributed to several hosts, so that the different functions of EDIV can be shown and described accurately.
This thesis imparts a general view of the mechanics and implementation of latest voxelization strategies using the GPU. In addition to established voxelization procedures using the rasterization pipeline, new possibilities arising from GPGPU programming are examined. On the basis of the programming language C++ and the graphics library OpenGL the implementation of several methods is explained. The methods are compared in terms of performance and quality of the resulting voxelization and are evaluated critically with regards to possible use cases. Furthermore, two exemplary applications are detailed that use a voxelized scene in such a way that the augmentation of established techniques of real time graphics are facilitated. To this end, the concepts and the implementations of Transmittance Shadow Mapping and of Reflective Shadow Mapping utilizing a voxel based ambient occlusion effect is explained. Finally, the prolonging relevance of voxelization is put into prospect, by addressing latest research and further enhancements and applications of the presented methods.
This work compiles the comparison of different medical drug-dispensers. A drug-dispenser is a device which allows it from a larger amount of drugs to take a smaller one. To perform this comparison 15 requirements for the dispensers were found. The requirements "organization", "remind" and "ergonomics" are assigned to the taking-easement. "Compliance", "adaptability", "selectivity", "persistence", "functionality", "correctness" and "specificity / sensitivity" belong to the compliance, which is therapy loyalty. With it this category makes most demands. The category storage collects "hygiene", "pharmaceutical forms" and "robustness". Finally, the requirements "clarity" and "data protection" were assigned to other requirements. After this, different dispenser-concepts were first introduced and analyzed on the fulfillment of the requirements. The following concepts were analyzed: pillbox, oneweek-dispenser, Blister, tubular bag, MEMS, OtCM, electronic Dispenser, smartphone application. According to the analysis the dispensers could be compared with each other. It turned out that all concepts show deficits. Hence the author developed an own concept which fulfils all requirements except for two from well to very well. It represents the mightiest concept.
This bachelor thesis’s objective is to offer the reader insight into the discrete Fourier transform, the discrete cosine transform and the discrete Hadamard-Walsh transform in the context of image processing, and also to compare these transformations under various aspects. For this purpose the term of transformation, originated in linear algebra, will be explained and applied to image processing. Subsequently, the understanding of the Fourier transform will successively be built up and connected to the two remaining transforms. Finally, the transformations will be compared and their usefulness in relation to image processing will be explained.
In the "Institut MTI Mittelrhein" the impact of training and experience on motion and motion planning in sports is examined. As a part of these investigations, the motion behaviour of a sports climber is analyzed on a sports climbing wall. The aim of this thesis is the segmentation and marker-based detection of the movement of a climber in video recordings. The segmented markers from each image are tracked by a tracking procedure over time. The motion tracks will be exported to the motion analysis software Simi Motion in a format suitable for further analysis.
Global-Illumination is an important part of the rendering of realistic images. However, the computational complexity of an accurate simulation of these effects is too high for the use in real time applications. In this paper Light-Propagation-Volumes, Screen-Space-Reflections and multiple variants of Screen-Space-Ambient-Occlusion are investigated as a solution for real time rendering. It is shown that they are fast enough for the use in real time applications. The various techniques approximate only a few aspects of the light transport, but complement each other.
How does gameplay influence the fun in video games? This article will search for an answer to this question by using a self-made video game created from scratch. This video game will be programmed in two versions with differences only in gameplay. Several test persons are then to play this game. A survey will be answered afterwards. In order to gain values that are merely influenced by gameplay changes, thoughts on the game design and conception were made. Results suggest that gameplay has a big impact on fun in video games. But gameplay isn't the only responsible factor that makes a video game amusing. Psychological aspects are present when the gameplay of a video game changes.
There are a few systems high and low-cost ones for gaze tracking. Normally low-cost systems go in hand with low-resolution cameras. Here the image quality is poor, so the algorithms for detecting the gaze have to work more precisely. But how to test and analyse them correctly, when there is a bad image quality and no reference point known? The idea of this work is, to generate synthetic eye images, where the reference points are known, because they are mainly manually set and then to test and analyse the algorithms with these synthetic images. By switching on features like gaussian noise or a second glint-like reflection point, it is possible to stepwise approximate the synthetic images close to reality. In fact the experiments will lead to an improvement of the algorithms used in a low-resolution system environment.
The present thesis gives an overview of the general conditions for the programming of graphics cards. For this purpose, the most important Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) available on the market are presented and compared. Subsequently, two standard algorithms from the field data processing, prefix sum and radixsort are presented and examined with regard to the implementation with parallel programming on the GPU. Both algorithms were implemented using the OpenGL-API and OpenGL compute shaders. Finally, the execution times of the two algorithms were compared.
This thesis deals with problems, which occure when rendering stereoscopic contents. These problems are elaborated, simulated with the help of a program developed in this thesis and evaluated by a group of volunteers. Thereby it shall be determined, whether the errors are noticeable and how much they influence the 3D effect of the stereoscopic images. Each error is simulated using different camera assemblies and evaluated depending on the choosen assembly.

The architecture of decentralized digital transaction systems with public transaction history provides no transaction monitoring to prevent unwanted transactions and to identify the transmitter and receiver of those transactions. With the introduction of a public list of unwanted addresses, it is possible to isolate these unwanted addresses by general exclusion and thereby to prevent unwanted transactions, as well as to identify the owners of unwanted addresses. The public list management can be performed by decentralized multiple instances using a trust network, so that the decentralized nature of the systems is maintained.
The following thesis analyses the functionality and programming capabilitiesrnof compute shaders. For this purpose, chapter 2 gives an introductionrnto compute shaders by showing how they work and how they can be programmed. In addition, the interaction of compute shaders and OpenGL 4.3 is shown through two introductory examples. Chapter 3 describes an NBodyrnsimulation that has been implemented in order to show the computational power of compute shaders and the use of shared memory. Then it is shown in chapter 4 how compute shaders can be used for physical simulationsrnand where problems may arise. In chapter 5 a specially conceived and implemented algorithm for detecting lines in images is described and then compared with the Hough transform. Lastly, a final conclusion is drawn in chapter 6.
This research examines information audit methodologies and information capturing methods for enterprise social software which are an elementary part of the audit process. Information auditing is lacking of a standardized definition and methodology because the scope of the audit process is diversified and dependent on the organization undertaking the audit. The benefits of information auditing and potential challenges of Enterprise 2.0 the audit can overcome are comprehensive and provide a major incentive for managers to conduct an audit. Information asset registers as a starting point for information auditing are not specifically focusing on social software assets. Therefore this research pro-ject combines asset registers from different areas to create a new register suitable for the requirements of Enterprise 2.0. The necssary adaptations caused by the new character of the assets are minor. The case study applying the asset register for the first time however reveals several problematic areas for information auditors completing the register. Rounding up the thesis a template is developed for setting up new work spaces on enterprise social software systems with appropriate metadata taking into account the meaningful metadata discovered in the asset register.
Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in scientific literature and in public debates. Especially in these hightech and digitized times it happens more and more frequently that young entrepreneurs with a good idea make the breakthrough and set up an established company. Basically, there are an increasing number of start-ups and a trend towards independence. The economy of a country depends on young entrepreneurs in order to remain economically competitive in international competition. It follows that young entrepreneurs must be encouraged and supported. This support is expressed in various stages of foundation and through various fields of action. In the meantime, there are many offers for start-up support. These networks satisfy different fields of action along a foundation. However, a structured overview of these networks on which a young founder can orient himself and gain easily access to the offers of the networks, is missing until then.
This work attempts to present these offers clearly on a map and to categorize and present the commitment in the respective fields of action. In addition to this main objective, the following three key questions are investigated and answered in this work:
1. How can the Entrepreneurship Networks be assigned to the respective fields of action of Entrepreneurship Education?
2. What is the benefit of such a classification for potential entrepreneurs in detail?
3. Are these Entrepreneurship networks missing an important step? Might they improve their offer? Does the value chain cover every need a young entrepreneur might have?
For this purpose, the respective fields of action of the networks are first separated from each other along a founding and defined individually. Subsequently, a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches was used to filter and analyze the contents of the websites of the networks. The results of this investigation were transformed in a classification
The aim of this work is to produce a map that displays the existing networks in the world clearly. The map also contains information that is more detailed and the classifica-tion of the networks in the respective fields of action.
TGraphBrowser
(2010)
This thesis describes the implementation of a web server that enables a browser to display graphs created with the Java Graph Laboratory (JGraLab). The user has the choice between a tabular view and a graphical presentation. In both views it is possible to navigate through the graph. Since graphs with thousands of elements may be confusing for the user, he or she is given the option to filter the displayed vertices and edges by their types. Furthermore, the number of graph elements shown can be limited by means of a GreQL query or by directly entering their ids.
Texture-based text detection in digital images using wavelet features and support vector machines
(2010)
In this bachelor thesis a new texture-based approach for the detection of text in digital images is presented. The procedure can be essentially divided into two main tasks, in detection of text blocks and detection of individual words, whereby the individual words are extracted from the detected text blocks. Roughly, the developed method acts with multiple support vector machines, which classify possible text regions of an image into real text regions, using wavelet-based features. In the process the possible text regions are defifined by edge projections with diσerent orientations. The results of the approach are X/Y coordinates, width and height of rectangular regions of an image, which contains individual words. This knowledge can be further processed, for example by an optical character recognition software to get the important and useful text information.
While real-time applications used to be executed on highly specialized hardware and individually developed operation systems, nowadays more often regular off-the-shelf hardware is used, with a variation of the Linux kernel running on top.
Within the scope of this thesis, test methods have been developed and implemented as a real-time application to measure several performance properties of the Linux kernel with regards to its real-time capability.
These tests have been run against three different versions of the Linux kernel. Afterwards, the results of the test series were compared to each other.
This bachelor thesis implements a system for camera tracking based on a particle filter. For this purpose, a marker tracking is realized and the camera position is calculated based on the marker position. The marker is to be found with a particle filter and in order to accomplish this possible marker positions are simulated, also called particles, and weighted with Likelyhood-Functions. The focus lies on the evaluation of different Likelihood-Functions of the particle filter. The Likelyhood functions were implemented in CUDA as part of the implementation.

Regarding the rising amount of legal regulations, businesses should get the opportunity to use software to fulfill their Compliance Management with the usage of compliance pattern. These patterns are used to represent substantive and structural parts of the processes. This means companies can increase their efficiency and react to new regulations quickly to avoid possible violation which can lead to monetary losses or legal consequences. In the literature are many approaches that deal with compliance pattern but currently there does not exist any list with necessary compliance pattern that companies should face at (Delfmann and Hübers, 2015). The following bachelor thesis classifies 80 research contributions regarding their different approaches of compliance pattern. For that a systematic literature review was executed. As a result, the author developed a graphical classification context that provides an overview of connections between different compliance approaches. Furthermore, an appendix with 32 compliance patterns of the analyzed papers was developed that contains real-world patterns with the classification of the previous sections.
Especially e-government projects have a complex stakeholder structure: governments, businesses, non-profits and private stakeholders in different forms and roles are involved or affected by e-government projects. Consequently, the success of ICT projects critically depends on the integration of different stakeholder groups in the design processes of e-government solutions. In this context, stakeholder participation is sought therefore useful initiatives like open government and good governance drive this process forward. Although it is important to analyze the objectives, expectations and power characteristics of project participants and project stakeholders, the determinations of the stakeholder groups through a so called stakeholder analysis are insufficiently methodically developed.
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to pick up the stakeholder theories, stakeholder participation theories, stakeholder analysis and transfer it to an administrative level as well as to check their applicability. This will be done by explaining and systematizing appropriate procedures for the classification and mapping of stakeholder groups, through well-known stakeholder theories of Freeman, Mitchel and Rowley. In order to generate recommendations for future e-government projects, the application of stakeholder theories in two e-government projects with stakeholder involvement will be reviewed. It is also important to work out how stakeholder groups can be actively involved in the developmental processes in concrete e-government projects by using Web 2.0 possibilities. The role of Web 2.0 applications as an additional channel of communication and participation tool will be presented and evaluated.
The result is a guide, which supports successful participation of stakeholders in projects, by analyzing the process for stakeholder identification, stakeholder grouping and prioritization and showing instructions and benefits for using Web 2.0.
Part-of-Speech tagging is the process of assigning words with similar grammatical properties to a part of speech (PoS). In the English language, PoS-tagging algorithms generally reach very high accuracy. This thesis undertakes the task to test against these accuracies in PoS-tagging as a qualitative measure in classification capabilities for a recently developed neural network model, called graph convolutional network (GCN). The novelty proposed in this thesis is to translate a corpus into a graph as a direct input for the GCN. The experiments in this thesis serve as a proof of concept with room for improvements.
Smart Building Solutions - Generischer Ansatz für die Identifikation von Raumsteuerungsfunktionen
(2018)
40 percent of current housing and real estate companies plan to integrate intelligent control systems into their properties during new construction and modernization. At the same time, Internet companies are pushing their devices into homes and apartments, promising intelligent services for their users. The term "Smart Home" is used for both types of new technologies. The first group of systems has its origins in the field of "Building Automation", the second group developed from the concept of the "Internet of Things".
In order to discover what the differences are and what common foundations exist, both the areas of Building Automation and Internet of Things are analyzed and compared.
The central contribution of this thesis is the realization that both domains are based on similar concepts and an integration is possible, without compromising the integrity of the systems themselves. In addition, the work provides an approach to designing Building Automation Systems with the integration of the Internet of Things.
The animation of models has become an important part in different areas of everyday life. It is a demanding task for computer graphics to generate
a natural deformation of organic models. Skinning is a common method to animate models without animating each vertex individually. The skin of the model deforms automatically by manipulating individual bones of a skeleton.
This bachelor thesis deals with the most common algorithm, linear blend skinning and aims to find some optimizations regarding the visual effect
and performance. Additionally it presents certain instancing methods which are combined with the skinning methods in the application to show the advantages and disadvantages of the latter.
The present work starts with an introduction of methods for three-dimensional curve skeletonization. Different kinds of historic and recent skeletonization approaches are analysed in detail. Later on, a state-of-the-art skeletonization algorithm is introduced. This algorithm deals as a basis for the own approach presented subsequently. After the description and definition of a new method improving the state-of-the-art algorithm, experiments are conducted to get appraisable results. Next, a ground truth is described which has been set up manually by humans. The human similarity evaluations are compared with the results of the automatic computer-based similarity measures provided by the own approach. For this comparison, standard evaluation criteria from the field of information retrieval have been used.
This work presents an application for simulation objects, which can change their aggregate states between solid and liquid using a temperature system. The focal points are the simulation of fluids with a particle system, the generation of a surface and the visualization of metal. The application should be interactive and match the real time conditions. Different types of Shader are used for the parallelized computations on the GPU. Also more options to use the application and possible improvements are presented.
Simulation von Schnee
(2015)
Physic simulations allow the creation of dynamic scenes on the computer. Computer generated images become lively and find use in movies, games and engineering applications. GPGPU techniques make use of the graphics card to simulate physics. The simulation of dynamic snow is still little researched. The Material Point Method is the first technique which is capable of showing the dynamics andrncharacteristics of snow.
The hybrid use of Lagrangian particles and a regular cartesian grid enables solving of partial differential equations. Therefore articles are transformed to the grid. The grid velocities can then be updated with the calculation of gradients in an FEM-manner (finite element method). Finally grid node velocities are weight back to the particles to move them across the scene. This method is coupled with a constitutive model to cover the dynamic nature of snow. This include collisions and breaking.
This bachelor thesis connects the recent developments in GPGPU techniques of OpenGL with the Material Point Method to efficiently simulate visually compelling, dynamic snow scenes.
Simulation von Schnee
(2019)
Using physics simulations natural phenomena can be replicated
with the computer. The aim is to calculate a physical feature as correclty as
possible in order to draw conclusions for the real world. Fields of Application
are, for example, medicine, industry, but also games or films.
Snow is a very complex natural phenomenon due to its physical structure
and properties. To simulate snow, different material properties have to be
considered.
The most important method that deals with the simulation of snow and its
dynamics is the material point method. It combines the Lagrangian particles
based on continuum mechanics with a Cartesian grid. The grid enables
communication between the snow particles, which are not actually connected.
For calculation of particles data is transferred from these particles to
the grid nodes. There, calculations are carried out with information about
neighboring particles. The results are then transferred back to the original
particles. Using GPGPU techniques, physical simulations can be implemented
on the graphics card. Procedures like the material point method
can be parallelized well with these techniques.
This paper deals with the physical basics of the material point method and
implements them on the graphics card using compute shaders. Then performance
and quality are evaluated.
Simulation von Rauch
(2019)
This bachelor thesis deals with the simulation of smoke in a particle
system. Here the possibilities are investigated to implement smoke as
realistically as possible in a particle system and to calculate it in real time.
The physical simulation is based on the work of Müller and
Ren, who deal with the physical properties of fluids and gases.
The simulation was implemented on the GPU using C++, OpenGL and
the compute shaders available in OpenGL. Special attention was paid
to the performance of the simulation. Hoetzlein techniques are
used to accelerate the particle system. Two acceleration methods were
then implemented and compared. The runtime, but also the used memory
space of the GPU is discussed.
In no field of computer science has the hardware developed as rapidly as in the field of computer graphics. Today, we can display complex, geometric scenes in real time in immersive systems and also integrate elaborate simulations.
The aim of this work is to realize the simulation of paint splashes in a virtual world. For this purpose, an application will be implemented with the help of Unity, that uses three different techniques to color the environment with the help of paint splashes. Based on this application, the limits and possibilities of the techniques in virtual environments are examined more closely.
This examination shows that an inverse projection produces the best results.
Augmented Reality has many areas of application. It can be used to simplify everyday life as well as working processes. However, since there are
many manufacturers that offer greatly varying systems, choosing the correct system according to application as well as cross-platform development are dfficult. This thesis attempts to develop an application which can be used to simulate Augmented Reality devices on Virtual Reality systems. This should simplify the processes of choosing a system as well as cross-platform
development.
Since the simulation will be designed to run on mobile devices, it should be possible to render high quality, realistic environments in advance, using a panoramic image. On a Virtual Reality device, they need to be displayed as a stereoscopic image. To achieve this, several methods are presented that can be used to perform this conversion. An editor will be created which will allow the creation of scenes, configuration of Augmented Reality devices and displaying them on a Virtual Reality system. For closing this thesis a test will be performed, to check the quality of the simulation as well as improvements that can be made.
Tiny waves driven by wind, shallow, long waves, head overlapping sea, all of these waves occur in every ocean and even in small lakes. The surface of water is one of the most versatile phenomenas of nature. Not only the movement of waves, but also the reflection of sky, sun and coastline makes the surface of water unique. Exactly this complexity is what brings its own challenges to the simulation of water surfaces. That is why simulation of water occupies mathematicians with a challenge for nearly 400 years now.
In the last fifty years this challenge has more and more shifted to computer science. Computer graphic designers have tried to visualise water in a realistic manner for centuries. Science in this field expends from simple noise filters to mathematically complex solutions like Fourier Transformation.
In the following work historical background of todays wave theories, as well as mathematical fundamentals are given. The focus of this work is set on the implementation of these methods in OpenGL 3.3.
The advantage of virtual networks is to test routing-algorithms or distributed software in an easy-to-use, cheap and well-arranged way. Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) and Babel are two modern routing-algorithms for mobile ad-hoc networks that distinguish faulty links from good link connections in their routing process. Typically virtual networks provide nearly perfect link connections without any network traffic disruptions. The Traffic Control (tc) tool is able to manipulate connections in terms of delay and packet loss.
In this bachelor thesis virtual network scenarios are created with VNUML and Qemu and manipulated with tc in order to analyze the behavior of ad-hoc routing algorithms like Babel and OLSR. The behavior of well-known TCP congestion control algorithms, e.g., TCP Vegas and TCP Reno are analyzed, too.
In this bachelor thesis a code for astrophysical self-gravitating fluid
simulation is developed. The code runs mainly on the GPU. Minimal
simplifications of the physical model and some parameters for accuracy
and tuning allow simulations to be performed at interactive framerates
on most modern consumer grade computers that feature a dedicated
graphics card. It is used to simulate the birth of stars from a turbulent
molecular cloud. Multiple features of star formation, like accretion
discs and fragmentation, can be observed in the simulation, even when
low particle counts are used.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept in which connected physical objects are integrated into the virtual world to become active partakers of businesses and everyday processes (Uckelmann, Harrison and Michahelles, 2011; Shrouf, Ordieres and Miragliotta, 2014). It is expected to have a major impact on businesses (Council, Nic and Intelligence, 2008), but small and medium enterprises’ business models are threatened if they do not adopt the new concept (Sommer, 2015). Thus, this thesis aims to showcase a sample implementation of connected devices in a small enterprise, demonstrating its added benefits for the business.
Design Science Research (DSR) is used to develop a prototype based on a use case provided by a carpentry. The prototype comprises a hardware sensor and a web application which can be used by the wood shop to improve their processes. The thesis documents the iterative process of developing a prototype from the grounds up to useable hard- and software.
This contribution provides an example of how IoT can be used and implemented at a small business.
The present work introduces a rigid-body physics engine, focusing on the collision detection by GPU. The increasing performance and accessibility of modern graphics cards ensures that they can be also used for algorithms that are meant not only for imaging. This advantage is used to implement an efficient collision detection based on particles. The performance differences between CPU and GPU are presented by using a test environment.
In the last few years, information technology experienced a great increase. People and Enterprises are able to exchange information through the development of the Web 2.0 to the Social Web. Social Networks like Facebook or Xing, blogs from known and unknown people or the many discussion forums are common platforms where people have the opportunity to share and exchange information. Enterprises and people have to accept this fact and development. The reputation is also influenced by the overabundance of information. The result of this development is the digital reputation, which extend the entire reputation. Everyone who is looking for an order or a job can assume that his orrnher name will be "googled", whether he or she is a part of an internet branch or not. Every information is available through search engines. Just a quick look at the Facebook or Xing profile is needed to get a brief impression of someone. The communications expert Klaus Eck said that someone who takes the internet seriously will get a benefit for the development of his digital reputation. This research work will show you through a self made questionnaire what is seen as positive and negative influences on the reputation in Social Networks and how the digital reputation impacts the entire reputation.
API migration refers to the change of a used API to a different API in a program. A special case is called wrapper-based API migration. The API change is done without touching the program but the old API is reimplemented by means of the from now on used one. This so called wrapper has the interface of the reimplemented API but uses the implementation of the new one.
This is an interesting approach because the wrapper can be used in each program, which uses the old API.
To make this approach reproducible we study a ranking-based method for implementing a wrapper, where we always implement the method with the highest priority depending on failing test cases. Thus, we can reconstruct each implementation step.
We first develop an infrastructure to run and log test suites of Java projects that use an API, which we want to change.
We then build a wrapper for a given API using the ranking-based approach.

In no other field of computer science has the hardware been evolved more
quickly than in computer graphics. Therefore the GPU offers, aside from
the pure rendering of triangles, a bunch of further pipeline steps that allows
visualisation of other graphics objects, like freeform surfaces.
This bachelor’s thesis is about the rendering of freeform surfaces, in particular
bezier surfaces. For that reason an implementation for management
and visualisation of bézier surfaces was created for the rendering framework
of the university Koblenz (CVK). For this purpose first a triangulation
was implemented and finally a tesselation of bezier surfaces with normals
and texture coordinates, as well as the handling of trim curves.
Real-time graphics applications are tending to get more realistic and approximate real world illumination gets more reasonable due to improvement of graphics hardware. Using a wide variation of algorithms and ideas, graphics processing units (GPU) can simulate complex lighting situations rendering computer generated imagery with complicated effects such as shadows, refraction and reflection of light. Particularly, reflections are an improvement of realism, because they make shiny materials, e.g. brushed metals, wet surfaces like puddles or polished floors, appear more realistic and reveal information of their properties such as roughness and reflectance. Moreover, reflections can get more complex, depending on the view: a wet surface like a street during rain for example will reflect lights depending on the distance of the viewer, resulting in more streaky reflection, which will look more stretched, if the viewer is locatedrnfarther away from the light source. This bachelor thesis aims to give an overview of the state-of-the-art in terms of rendering reflections. Understanding light is a basic need to understand reflections and therefore a physical model of light and its reflection will be covered in section 2, followed by the motivational section 2.2, that will give visual appealing examples for reflections from the real world and the media. Coming to rendering techniques, first, the main principle will be explained in section 3 followed by a short general view of a wide variety of approaches that try to generate correct reflections in section 4. This thesis will describe the implementation of three major algorithms, that produce plausible local reflections. Therefore, the developed framework is described in section 5, then three major algorithms will be covered, that are common methods in most current game and graphics engines: Screen space reflections (SSR), parallax-corrected cube mapping (PCCM) and billboard reflections (BBR). After describing their functional principle, they will be analysed of their visual quality and the possibilities of their real-time application. Finally they will be compared to each other to investigate the advantages and disadvantages over each other. In conclusion, the gained experiences will be described by summarizing advantages and disadvantages of each technique and giving suggestions for improvements. A short perspective will be given, trying to create a view of upcoming real-time rendering techniques for the creation of reflections as specular effects.
101worker is the modular knowledge engineering component of the 101companies project. It has developed maintainability and performance problems due to growing organically, rather than following best software design practices. This thesis lays out these problems, drafts a set of requirements for refactoring the system and then describes and analyzes the resulting implementation. The solution involves collation of scattered and redundant information, setup of unit and functional test suites and incrementalization of the bus architecture of 101worker.
The present thesis deals with the realization of a stepper motor driver on an 8-bit microcontroller by the company Atmel. The focus is on the devel- opment of a current control, which allows microstepping in addition to the basic modes of operation like full- and halfstep. For this purpose, a PI con- troller is derived using physical and control engineering principles, which is implemented on the microcontroller. In this context, essential knowledge for the practical implementation will be discussed. In addition, the development of the hardware is documented, which is of great significance for the current measurement.
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic "user-friendly design of applications (apps)" on mobile devices, a subdomain of software-ergonomics. In the process, two applications are being analyzed with the aim of developing a solution on how support on a mobile device should be conducted. This study focuses primarily on appropriate gestures to coordinate the 'help function' on a mobile device. The study results show that the test persons request a customized help function, but reject an extensive help description, as this seems to be overwhelming for the user.

Raytracing mit Vulkan
(2018)
Within the scope of this bachelor thesis, a survey targeting the alumni of the Department 4: Computer Science of the University of Koblenz-Landau was planned, realized and evaluated. The goal was to support the Task Force Bachelor Master that was in charge of the re-accreditation process of the study courses. At first, the theoretical fundament of the survey design was acquired via desk research. Moreover, the analysis of past surveys of similar character lead to getting an impression of the requirements. Under consideration of recent changes, a survey prototype was created and improved following the insights from a pre-test. Using the open source tool LimeSurvey, the final version was implemented. The platform was used as the technical basis of the survey. The recipients included members of alumni clubs as well as recent alumni from the last years.
The survey lead to insights about the satisfaction of the alumni with their study course and the study situation in general. Furthermore, the opinion regarding two new master courses, E-Government and Web Science, was requested. The feedback from four of the study courses was enough to give significant results, for the other five courses it was only possible to interpret the general statements. All in all, there was a high rate of satisfaction with the studies.
Additionally, it was possible to collect suggestions for improvements and criticism. The main topics were internationality, emphasis on study topics, freedom of choice/specialization and relevancy to practice. As a result of the survey, a recommendation was verbalized, that should lead to an improvement in quality and need of the teaching in the Department 4: Computer Science in combination with the detailed results.
Prävention von Korruption
(2006)
The known methods of the prevention of corruption are set into context of comparable ways to obviate accidences during working processes, environmental pollution by organisations and the options to ensure quality for manufactured goods. The aim was to find out if and in which degree the different methods of prevention in the area of corruption and the mentioned aspects of the TQM support each other.
The following bachelor thesis gives an overview of various approaches and techniques for procedural generation of three-dimensional city models. Especially the usage of generative grammars is being examined and later used for the implementation of an own application. Its focus was the embedding of predetermined primary street networks as well as the procedural generation of secondary street networks and different kinds of buildings. The application allows the efficient creation of extensive and variably structured city models. However, there are restrictions regarding the realism and variation of the results.
The initial problem that motivated this thesis is the lock of possibility to represent finished theses by students of the research group BAS. Many finished thesis are only available in a printed version. Some of the students created their own websites but these are not uniform.
The first step to solve this problem is to create an overall research design. The research design of this thesis based on the construction-oriented approach of design science research by Hevner [2007]. The initial problem will be solved by creating a Web 2.0 website. Therefore the open source content management system Drupal is used. For the implementation of the target system, a set of requirements will be collected. This set of requirements will be collected by using various methods such like mock ups, interviews, collaboration scenarios and personas. To meet the collected requirements a set of additional modules will be added to the core version of Drupal. This advanced version of Drupal will be scenario and user tested. A result of this work is a deployable prototype, with which it is possible to present various theses. A further result will be user guides that describe the operation of the prototype. This thesis finishes with a conclusion and an outlook on the further use of the prototype.
Social media platforms such as Twitter or Reddit allow users almost unrestricted access to publish their opinions on recent events or discuss trending topics. While the majority of users approach these platforms innocently, some groups have set their mind on spreading misinformation and influencing or manipulating public opinion. These groups disguise as native users from various countries to spread frequently manufactured articles, strong polarizing opinions in the political spectrum and possibly become providers of hate-speech or extremely political positions. This thesis aims to implement an AutoML pipeline for identifying second language speakers from English social media texts. We investigate style differences of text in different topics and across the platforms Reddit and Twitter, and analyse linguistic features. We employ feature-based models with datasets from Reddit, which include mostly English conversation from European users, and Twitter, which was newly created by collecting English tweets from selected trending topics in different countries. The pipeline classifies language family, native language and origin (Native or non-Native English speakers) of a given textual input. We evaluate the resulting classifications by comparing prediction accuracy, precision and F1 scores of our classification pipeline to traditional machine learning processes. Lastly, we compare the results from each dataset and find differences in language use for topics and platforms. We obtained high prediction accuracy for all categories on the Twitter dataset and observed high variance in features such as average text length especially for Balto-Slavic countries.
Digital Transformation is a main enabler for technological change in today’s society and corporate structures. Companies of all sizes have to face up the change. The com-plexity of the innovations is constantly growing. More and more information and knowledge are needed to build a basis for renewal. Different capabilities, such as highly qualified employees, material resources and the correct handling with these information, constitute the background for the advancement. Compared to large companies, small and medium sized companies (SMEs) are struggling more with these circum-stances. This leaves potential capabilities to optimize daily routines unused.
Challenges here are different internal and external barriers. Examples for that are the lack of IT expertise and innovation culture. Hence it is very important, to show SMEs the advantages of the innovation process within the scope of digital transformation. Cost savings, improvement of IT infrastructure or optimization of their business processes, are drivers that should be adopted in the awareness of SMEs.
Recommendations for action are needed, also with the support of information management. This includes information management, strategic management for external an internal information and the selection of an appropriate IT infrastructure. However dynamic management skills and sufficient IT expertise also complement the digitization process.
This becomes clear from the literature analysis following the principles of Webster and Watson (2002). The Concept mapping and the concept matrix serves to support the process. They are presenting the key words and showing the most important works of the bachelor thesis. The argumentation of the bachelor thesis based on this.
Potential vermögender Kunden
(2011)
This bachelor thesis deals with the potential of wealthy clients in the private banking sector, as well as with financial services offered in this domain. For this purpose a comparison of the international potential in the German-speaking world was conducted which was ascertained with the help of statistical series.
The reference period for this comparison extends over thernyears from 2000 to 2009. Especially in this time period one was able to notice capital restructuring due to the finance crisis and its impacts. The results out of the analysis of the changing potential are then used to find possibilities of reorganizing offered financial services in the private banking sector. While doing so, the achievement of a high service level has the highest priority as this is the main reason for customers to remain with a certain bank. In addition to that this thesis also mentions new possibilities concerning the banking sector as well as consequences of different models of consultant payments.
Polsearchine: Implementation of a policy-based search engine for regulating information flows
(2013)
Many search engines regulate Internet communication in some way. It is often difficult for end users to notice such regulation, as well as obtaining background information for it. Additionally, the regulation can usually be circumvented easily. This bachelor thesis presents the prototypical metasearch engine "Polsearchine" for addressing these weaknesses. Its regulation is established through InFO, a model for regulating information flows developed by Kasten and Scherp. More precisely, the extension for regulating search engines SEFCO is being used. For retrieving search results, Polsearchine uses an external search engine API. The API can be interchanged easily to make this metasearch engine independent from one specific API.
Helicopters are crucial in today’s life. A vast amount of applications prove
their range, which are not coverable by other types of aircraft. But they are
very complex systems, both, technically and physically. This is one of the
reasons why pilot training for helicopters is quite challenging. In the last
two decades flight simulators became a supplementary instrument in the
educational process of pilots. With flight simulators it is possible to replay
uncommon or dangerous situations. In this thesis a simple flight simulator
for helicopters will be developed based on rigid body physics. The foundation is a simplified rotor model which omits complex fluid dynamics. This
helps to keep the implementation simple and illustrative as well as provide simulation rates at real-time. The modules are implemented within
the Unreal Engine in such way, that changing helicopter characteristics is
very easy.
In the man-machine interaction tracking and identification of individuals plays an important role. In this work, a framework for the service-robot Lisa, of the Active Vision Group, has been created to combine different methods for the detection, tracking and identification of individuals. First leg detection is performed to establish hypotheses for people using a 2D-laserscan. This assumption needs to be confirmed by an analysis of the Kinect point cloud. After successful confirmation online-boosting on RGB-data is performed for identification. The leg data will also be used with a linear Kalman filter to estimate the movement of people. Through the combination of of Kalman filter with leg detection and online-boosting people tracking should be enabled. Further receiving an interchange of persons should - by brief occlusion or faulty associate of legs - can be prevented.
During olive oil production, large amounts of olive mill wastewater (OMW) are generated within a short period of time. OMW has a high nutrient content and could serve as fertilizer when applied on land. However, its fatty and phenolic constituents have adverse effects on soil properties. It is still unknown how seasonal fluctuations in temperature and precipitation influence the fate and effect of OMW components on soil properties in a long-term perspective. An appropriate application season could mitigate negative consequences of OMW while preserving its beneficial effects. In order to investigate this, 14 L OMW m-2 were applied to different plots of an olive plantation in winter, spring, and summer respectively. Hydrological soil properties (water drop penetration time, hydraulic conductivity, dynamic contact angle), physicochemical parameters (pH, EC, soluble ions, phenolic compounds, organic matter), and biological degradation (bait-lamina test) were measured to assess the soil state after OMW application. After one rainy season following OMW application, the soil quality of summer treatments significantly decreased compared to the control. This was particularly apparent in a three-times lower biodegradation performance, ten-fold higher soil water repellency, and a four-fold higher content of phenolic compounds. The soil properties of winter treatments were comparable to the control, which demonstrated the recovery potential of the soil ecosystem. Spring treatments resulted in an intermediate response compared to summer and winter treatments, but without any precipitation following OMW application. Significant accumulation or leaching effects to deeper soil were not observed. Therefore, the direct application of legally restricted OMW amounts to soil is considered acceptable during the moist seasons. Further research is needed to quantify the effect of spring treatments and to gain further insight into the composition and kinetics of organic OMW constituents in the soil.
This bachelor thesis deals with the comparison related to the similarity of recorded WiFi patterns during the tracing of a path through the streets of a large city. Both MAC address only comparison has been investigated as well as the incorporation of RSSI values, whereby the localization accuracy has been evaluated. Methods for the detection of different types and combinations of loops in the path are demonstrated likewise the attempt to estimate the degree of urban development in the environment of the user by assessing the received signal strength and signal-to-noise ratio of GPS satellites and GSM cell towers.

This thesis addresses the implementation of a particle simulation of an explosion. The simulation will be displayed via ray tracing in near real time. The implementation makes use of the openCL standard. The focus of research in this thesis is to analyse the performance of this combination of components.
The present thesis covers the implementation and optimization of global illumination in three-dimensional scenes. Global illumination does not only consider direct illumination dependent on one or more light sources, but also indirect illumination which is emitted by surrounding objects in the scene. The thesis focuses on the implementation of a global illumination method and its improvement using OpenGL 4.4. This is done by a voxelization of the scene. By traversing the resulting voxel structure, additional information is taken from the scene, which contributes to a plausible global illumination.
The aim of this thesis is to provide the information that is needed to build a correct data history in a Business Intelligence System. Thereby the phenomena of "Slowly Changing Dimensions" is emphasised. At first a definition of business intelligence is provided which includes the ETL-process, data warehousing, and on-line analytic processing. Furthermore data mining, reporting, dashboards an BI-portals can be considered as a part of the BI-process. It is possible to represent slowly changing dimensions in a database management system. This is modelled in the ETL-process. The data is transformed in a certain way, before being loaded into the data warehouse. Type 1 SCD represents a simple update of the current dimension entry. Type 2 SCD provides a history of the data. It saves all the intermediate states of it. Thus, a user can track all states that changed during a certain time. Type 2 SCD is the one which is mostly used. Type 3 SCD provides just the original and the actual state. Aside from this three types there are existing some hybrid and extended versions.
In this thesis, the theory of video seethrough is fundamentally presented on the basis of a panoramic view from several camera frames of
different perspectives. Based on this, a system was designed and implemented in which video streams are put together into a panoramic image by
perspective distortion. This is then projected onto the inside of a cylinder
with the virtual position of the viewer in the middle. Finally, the resulting
video panoramas will be displayed in VR glasses. Within the implementation some optimizations are also presented, among others those that make
the system real-time capable beyond the task. Furthermore, the developed
system will be evaluated and compared with two other methods.
Online Handschrifterkennung chinesischer Schriftzeichen auf androidfähigen mobilen Endgeräten
(2014)
Usage of mobile dictionaries or translators requires an input. This input has to be processed and recognized beforehand. Chinese characters are more suited for a handwritten input than a keyboard based one. Reason for that are the characters consisting mostly of pictograms or ideograms.
This thesis deals with an implementation of a prototypical recognition system on a mobile device. The recognition process should be online and therefore running while writing. It can save time for the user, because suggestions are made during runtime.
Basics and an overview over the current state of the art in online handwriting recognition will be given. An approach will be chosen and implemented, such that the recognition process is fast and needs little memory. The implementation will be tested and it will show, that a fast recognition can be possible on small devices. Suggestions for expansions and improvements will be given, including a future work part.
Over the past few decades society’s dependence on software systems has grown significantly. These systems are utilized in nearly every matter of life today and often handle sensitive, private data. This situation has turned software security analysis into an essential and widely researched topic in the field of computer science. Researchers in this field tend to make the assumption that the quality of the software systems' code directly affects the possibility for security gaps to arise in it. Because this assumption is based on properties of the code, proving it true would mean that security assessments can be performed on software, even before a certain version of it is released. A study based on this implication has already attempted to mathematically assess the existence of such a correlation, studying it based on quality and security metric calculations. The present study builds upon that study in finding an automatic method for choosing well-fitted software projects as a sample for this correlation analysis and extends the variety of projects considered for the it. In this thesis, the automatic generation of graphical representations both for the correlations between the metrics as well as for their evolution is also introduced. With these improvements, this thesis verifies the results of the previous study with a different and broader project input. It also focuses on analyzing the correlations between the quality and security metrics to real-world vulnerability data metrics. The data is extracted and evaluated from dedicated software vulnerability information sources and serves to represent the existence of proven security weaknesses in the studied software. The study discusses some of the difficulties that arise when trying to gather such information and link it to the difference in the information contained in the repositories of the studied projects. This thesis confirms the significant influence that quality metrics have on each other. It also shows that it is important to view them together as a whole and suppose that their correlation could influence the appearance of unwanted vulnerabilities as well. One of the important conclusions I can draw from this thesis is that the visualization of metric evolution graphs, helps the understanding of the values as well as their connection to each other in a more meaningful way. It allows for better grasp of their influence on each other as opposed to only studying their correlation values. This study confirms that studying metric correlations and evolution trends can help developers improve their projects and prevent them from becoming difficult to extend and maintain, increasing the potential for good quality as well as more secure software code.
This examination broaches the issue of an investigation that is supported by the eye-tracking technologie and uses the e-learn-system Compass. For this investigation, there was carried out an experiment to test participants if they recognize agreement errors in the subjekt-verb- congruence in german sentences. The idea for that came from an other survey, that was hold for the englisch language. The integration of the e-learn-system Compass intended the observation of the participants learning behaviour. The experiment was able to be evaluated and analysed by the software of the eye-tracker, that recorded all eye movements and created valuable data out of them. It was assumed to catch the participants eye movements such as fixations or regressions.
The result was very clear: errors in congruence betweet subject and verb were done often. Besides, the error-rate increases proportionally to the length of the sentence.
This thesis explores a 3D object detection and pose estimation approach based on the point pair features method presented by Drost et. al. [Dro+10]. While pose estimation methods have shown good improvements, they still remain a crucial problem on the computer vision field. In this work, we implemented a program that takes point cloud scenes as input and returns the detected object with their estimated pose. The program fully covers an object detection pipeline by processing 3D models during an offline phase, extracting their point pair features and creating a global descriptor out of them. During an online phase, the same features are extracted from a point cloud scene and are matched to the model features. After the voting scheme, potential poses of the object are retrieved. The poses end being clustered together and post-processed to finally deliver a result. The program was tested using simulated and real data. We evaluate these tests and present the final results, by discussing the achieved accuracy of the detections and the estimated poses.
Nutzung von Big Data im Marketing : theoretische Grundlagen, Anwendungsfelder und Best-Practices
(2015)
The measurement of the benefits of collaborative technologies is a challenge caused by sociological influences on these systems. In this work, the introduction of a collaborative system into an existing IT environment is examined, so that a value can be identified for the company. The analysis of frameworks has shown that the benefits can be reaped through better management and organization of in-company resources and optimization of the underlying process.
New techniques concerning the automatic identification of objects (Auto-ID) show unique potential for being used in the economy. This paper focuses on the technology of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and examines its uses and potentials regarding selected economic sectors. In the course of this paper, RFID will be directly compared to the bar code, the currently most prevalent system for object identification in the economy. To this end, the different basic modes of operation of both technologies will be introduced, and differences between their technical realizations will be brought to light. Moreover, this paper distinguishes and evaluates both technologies with regards to their potential use in three different branches of industry. Their differentiation provides the basis for determining and evaluating the RFID technology- probability of replacing the bar code in the consumer goods sector, the logistic sector, and the pharmaceutic sector.
Recipients" youtube comments to the five most successful songs of 2011 and 2012 are tested for nostalgic content. These nostalgic relevant comments are analyzed by content and finally interpreted. It shall be found out, whether nostalgic music content is a factor for success. By using the uses and gratifications theory the recipients" purpose of consuming nostalgic-evoking music will be identified. Music is a clearly stronger trigger for evoking nostalgia than the music video whereas nostalgia triggers positive and/or negative affect. Furthermore personal nostalgia is much more evident than historical nostalgia. Moreover the lyrics have a considerably higher potential to elicit nostalgia than any other song units. Persons and momentous events are the most frequent objects in personal nostalgic reverie. The purpose of consuming nostalgic music is the intended evocation of positive and/or negative affect. Hence nostalgia in music seems to satisfy certain needs and it can be assumed that nostalgia is a factor of success in music industry.
Due to the increasing pervasiveness of the mobile web, it is possible to send and receive mails with mobile devices. Content of digital communication should be encrypted to prevent eavesdropping and manipulation. Corresponding procedures use cryptographic keys, which have to be exchange previously. It has to be ensured, that a cryptographic key really belongs to the person, who it is supposedly assigned to. Within the scope of this thesis a concept for a smartphone application to exchange cryptographic keys was designed. The concept consists of a specification of a component-based framework, which can be used to securely exchange data in general. This framework was extended and used as the basis for a smartphone application. The application allows creating, managing and exchanging cryptographic keys. The Near Field Communication is used for the exchange. Implemented security measures prevent eavesdropping and specific manipulation. In the future the concept and the application can be extended and adjusted to be used in other contexts.
In this bachelor thesis a system for the simulation of the movements of molecules is developed. The calculation of the forces between chemically bonded atoms as well as intermolecular forces is done almost entirely on the GPU. The visualization of the simulation happens at an interactive framerate. To achieve rendering in realtime on off-the-shelf graphics cards, apt optimizations and slight abstractions of the underlying physical models are needed. One can control the execution speed or completely stop the simulation at any given moment. Some of the parameters of the underlying physical models of the simulation can be modified at runtime. With the right settings for the parameters, some phenomena of molecular dynamics can be observed, for example the spacial structure of the molecules.
Molecular dynamics (MD) as a field of molecular modelling has great potential to revolutionize our knowledge and understanding of complex macromolecular structures. Its field of application is huge, reaching from computational chemistry and biology over material sciences to computer-aided drug design. This thesis on one hand provides insights into the underlying physical concepts of molecular dynamics simulations and how they are applied in the MD algorithm, and also briefly illustrates different approaches, as for instance the molecular mechanics and molecular quantum mechanics approaches.
On the other hand an own all-atom MD algorithm is implemented utilizing and simplifying a version of the molecular mechanics based AMBER force field published by \big[\cite{cornell1995second}\big]. This simulation algorithm is then used to show by the example of oxytocin how individual energy terms of a force field function. As a result it has been observed, that applying the bond stretch forces alone caused the molecule to be compacted first in certain regions and then as a whole, and that with adding more energy terms the molecule got to move with increasing flexibility.
